This show is not sold out yet!! I have a hard time believing it, but it's true. The S.B. bowl is a great place for a show. It's outdoors, relatively small, and every seat is great. A friend of a friend bought some tickets on ebay and asked me if I wanted to go because he heard I was a huge fan. I remember seeing them for sale on ticketmaster last month. When he said "ebay" I assumed the show was sold out now. I checked Ticketmaster again, and they're still available. I guess we're in the pit so the extra money (60.00 each) will be worth it. If anyone can get to this show do it! As long as it doesn't rain this is going to be the place to see them.
The shows start and end kind of early because it's in a residential area.

Is this unusual? Are the shows not selling out?

Just wanna say I think it's funny that everybody disagreed
with my suggestion of La Super Rica. The reason it's so over-
crowded and full of tourists and in the guidebooks is
that the late Julia Child recommended it and then it became
the Reagan press corps hangout, which is how my co-workers
started eating there and blah blah blah. Anyway, it made me
laugh that you guys don't like the place.

Hope y'all had a blast at the show. Great venue.

some dirty hippy girl next to me had really bad b.o.

not that that would have made me refuse intercourse. but it was unpleasant.

I believe the only problem my singing actually might have created was that occasionally someone would turn around to see if Frank had some how magically teleported into the crowd and was now singing directly behind them.

Seriously though, I was not distracting any one. I took a few reality checks and everyone around me was singing and dancing along to the magic I was creating right there in front of them.

There was a tall guy and his girlfriend in front of me for a while. His girlfriend actually turned around at one point and gave me a look with a smile. I think it may have been a look like "Damn, you know every word!". Most likely it was "Damn, I want you right now!"

Judging by the people who were coming and going in front of Gigantus the Idiot, it looks like you weren't the only one who wasn't having a good time.

As for YOU King, why do you need to scream the words? Don't you realize that people were there to hear Frank sing them? The man has a truly incredible voice, and I feel really bad for the people who heard you instead. I've never understood why people try to outsing the band on the stage. Could you please explain this?

kok,

i was, i'd say, dead center in the orchestra pit. too bad you didn't get my message since i had no one to hang out with

i don't rank it that high as some of the others i've seen this tour (just being honest), but it was still great. i mean, any pixies show is great, no?
i thought Kim looked the best she's looked in two years. she seems to have lost weight and appeared to be i great spirits (more than usual). and her skin looked great.

that was my first time at the SB Bowl. great venue. it's kind of like the Greek Theatre in LA, only more ancient feeling. lots of beautiful ladies everywhere.. and one cute one gave me a free beer (working at the concesssion stand). not too shabby.

when i got back to LA i decidecd to stop in at one of my local watering holes (i don't have to work this week, and i was still feeling festive) and almost got into a fight with some drunk asshole who, basically, tried to pick a fight with me for no reason. so, that was a bad note to end my evening on and i'm still feeling a little pissed off.

speaking of a-holes, as happens at almost every show, some fucking 7 foot tall guy and his girlfriend barged through the crowd, mid-show, and decided that they deserved to be in front of everyone else.. and ended up right in front of me. so i pushed around the guy and stood in front of him (i think he got the hint) which made me feel better, but then he and his dumb ass friends were just chatting the whole time. during the songs. and it was distracting so i had to push forward and piss other people off to get away from those assholes . sorry people.

my faith in humanity has lowered maybe one percentile since last night, but i'm trying to build it back up.

glad you had a good time.

I ate at some late night place last night on state street that had the hottest damn salsa I've ever had! It was just north of Ny pizza. On top of the salsa, some mexican guy came over and gave us this little red pepper to try. The whole time he's watching us eat this thing with this sinister grin on his face.
Last night? Mouth on fire.
This morning? Ass on fire.

Hey floop ,
I just caught this post. I was actually kind of looking around for you (I remember the picture). I thought you might be there.
Much to the annoyance of everyone around me I was the guy screaming every word to every song. Did you see/hear me, by chance? I also had a brown Wavelengths shirt on.

What an awesome show! Much tighter than Davis.

The Rudy's on State in Paseo Nuevo has the torta. I used to live walking distance and would go there every saturday morning to kill my hangover.
darwin Posted - 10/24/2004 : 16:40:06
I use to eat at Rudy's (on State St.) about once a week. I'm not sure that one had tortas, but there was a bigger nearer the beach that never ate at. The one State had some nice tamales and burritos.

I lived in SB for 8 years, super rica is overpriced, overcrowded and overrated. Try the torta at Rudy's, it's what I miss most about that town.
darwin Posted - 10/24/2004 : 14:10:05
Super Rica gets pretty crowded because it's in the Zagat guide (fills with the touristas from LA, rich bastards). It's good, but not worth the wait if there's a long line.

I actually never found a place in SB that I thought was better than the many cheap/quick Mexican restaurants in San Diego. Rose's Cafe on Cliff is a very good traditional, family restaurant. I always got their Chorizo enchilildas. Yummy. Perfect with a beer. Have a good show.

there's a lot of good Mexican in Santa Barbara. i've never had La Super Rica . maybe i'll check it out. there's a place on Chapala St. that i love.

turns out my friend who was going to go with me can't make it. he's stuck in Thailand (was supposed to come in this afternoon) and has to take a later flight. i'm seeing if another friend wants to go.. but most likely, i'll be flying solo to this one.

see you there. or not.

Do yourselves a favor and grab some Mexican before the show at La Super Rica, just down Milpas, on the same side as the Bowl. Yummers.

I think they kinda saturated the market here. I just won a pair of tickets but I am carless right now, so hopefully I can find a ride out there.
