There's a big ol' rumor going around that Pixies, Throwing Muses, The Lemonheads, and Dinosaur Jr. will be playing at the Orpheum in Boston on Dec 31st. Has anyone else heard this? Any facts to support it?

The Lemonheads have reunited, none of the acts involved are busy that day, nor has The Orpheum posted anything for Dec 31st. I heard the rumor first from someone at the local video store, but also saw it mentioned a few places online.

It definitely falls under the "too good to believe" category, but then again, who here really believed the Pixies would reunite and record new material when the rumor spread last winter? Not me.

God bless J Mascis and his 18-string bass player...

I still want to believe it was him. Even if it wasn't I enjoyed the posts he made. J Mascis member profile

yeah, i had heard this rumor and awhile ago it seemed likely, but from what i have heard the orpheum, and confirmed by 2step and mr.grieves'71, will be a 1st night venue so this would then be a 1st night event.
w/ the $$ issues that 1st night has i do not know if this would be possible.
i still have faith that there will be something, maybe some kind of "secert show" in Boston.
i have no reason to believe this, besides faith.
i agree w/ deadlysludge.
no how, no way will there be a dino jr. reunion.
we would see a deep wound world tour before a dino jr. reunion.

dinosaur jr is definetely not reuniting i definetely think this is false info

Mr Grieves is right - Bill Janovitz's (Buffalo Tom) other band, Crown Victoria is playing there on New Years Eve as part of the First Night festivities: "Right now, we are tentatively booked for New Year’s Eve at the Orpheum, along with Graham Parker, for First Night Boston, something I have never been to. They usually use the Orpheum for First Night activities, so I don't know. Also, the line up sounds like some 35 year old Boston rock fan's dream than an actual plausable lineup. Sounds like someone can't get past 1990.

That's a great line up. It it does happen, I wouldn't be able to make it because of work...but that would be a killer way to spend New Years! I've seen all the band except for Dinosaur Jr. live and they were all awesome live.

I would be sad if this was true. I will be in Michigan on New Years. Feh.

I haven't heard anything at all resembling a rumour, Tim. I don't really buy it, but I certainly can't confirm that it's not true.
