The Pixies' wildly successful reunion tour will close with a Dec. 18 double-header at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom, where the band has already sold out six prior engagements. The Pixies will play a 7 p.m. show with support from Mike Watt and the Secondmen, while a midnight gig will feature former Throwing Muses frontwoman Kristin Hersh's new band, 50 Foot Wave. Tickets go on sale Saturday (Oct. 9) via Ticketmaster.
Pixies guitarist/vocalist Frank Black recently told Billboard.com he expects the group will return to the road sometime next year, and may even hit the studio for work on the first Pixies album since 1993. The group's cover of Warren Zevon's "Ain't That Pretty at All" can be found on the upcoming tribute album "Enjoy Every Sandwich," due Oct. 19.
