Yep, I noticed that, too. But judging by what he said in the MTV interview about being out of commission for a while when the baby comes, I assumed it was one of Violet's other kids. |

Posted - 09/25/2004 : 18:41:12 Nice article but I SWEAR!!! Can the media not get some new images of them??? That Coachella pic was ok AT coachella and shortly thereafter (1 may)) but 75% of the band has no hair now...GET some new pics when you write an article about "the seminal" band, please...
sorry for the rant...

Posted - 09/25/2004 : 15:46:44 I hear what your saying. I mean he is judging his songs within the spectrum of Pixies songs. My analogy is take maybe Picasso for example. Some of his paintings such as Guernica would be at the top and maybe some things that are are not in that top ranking but are still very good. He's had different periods like Picasso-- Surfer Rosa is Different From TOTY but all the songs are just so amazing. It probably depends on what style and albums the fans have been exposed.
But when you compare it to other artists, all that stuff is still amazing. Take Silver and Tony's theme. I know he has spoken out about Tony's theme not being one of the better songs-- but it is still amazing, just like all of the other Pixies/solo songs. They're all excelent, but there are just some that are more mainstream than the reast that might tend to get more attention by the average fan. |

Posted - 09/25/2004 : 13:44:40 Yeh, it's always a joy to read his comments.
Although he's probably right that the 'uberfans' are in the minority. The Catholics couldn't sell out a 5,000 capacity arena, I'm afraid.
Still, he's putting himself and his other songs down. Crowds could well go wild to 'Manta Ray', for example. |

You know what is cool about Frank is that he always uses different quotes-- every interview has something new. |

Posted - 09/25/2004 : 10:08:37 I don't want to hear the fucking monkey song. I want to hear the fucking Sad Punk. Or the fucking Motorway to Roswell. Or how about fucking All Over the World? Eh? EH?! I really wish he'd play for his fans and not for the "new fans". I find it really hard to believe that the "uber-fans", as he calls them, are the minority at the concerts. Gah...Poor Bossanova and Trompe le Monde. So under-rated and under-appreciated. *sulks*
