Posted - 08/23/2004 : 06:35:19 Is the disclive cd worth getting? Ive heard the same songs amillion times. The truth is i ordered two copies one for me and my brother who is responsible for getting me into the pixies but I want to know if theres a point of buying the disclives if they're the same songs all the time other than for collecting purposes of course?

Posted - 09/05/2004 : 17:25:33 I'm only a recently converted fan (post-Wave of Mutiontion), and so by the time I finally considered myself reasonably obsessive, the live albums were long gone. I ordered this just to own a DiscLive CD. The tracklist seems great, and besides, you really can't go wrong with live Pixies. Plus it's nice to be able to approach a complete stranger and say "I own a strictly limited edition live Pixies CD" and they'll say "why, aren't those ridiculously hard to find outside a single obscure online store?" and you can say "yes, they certainly are" and they'll say "wow, that must make you a ridiculously devoted and incredibly attractive fan, and incidentally, what are you doing in my shower?" But I digress.
I ordered it 1-2 days after the shipping date. Does anyone know if this means it will be sent immediately, or put on hold until a later date?

Posted - 09/04/2004 : 10:24:12 Today I got the CD--the pixies live in Japan!! Listening to the CD, I remembered the wonderful moments and got excited. I relived the show!!
In this disclive cd (in Japan), we can hear FB speaking Japanese. The end of the show, he said, "matane". "matane" means "see you again".

Posted - 08/23/2004 : 11:40:28 I bought (after finding the Disclive tent by accident) the pixies show at Coachella--it is TOTALLY worth it...I mean, I got goose bumps listening to the opening drums to Bone Machine the next 22 times I listened to it on my iPod...it was THAT rad.
I would highly recommend getting the cds if you go to the show...you'll get the little comments they make to the crowd, etc. At Coachella, Frank was tuning his acoustic when Joey walked over to the mic and said "hi." it was a totally priceless moment and it's on the cd and takes me back to that hotternhell day in SoCal... |

Posted - 08/23/2004 : 11:06:38 I don't own any of these yet, but I think they are meant more as a souvenier of a show that you've attended more than legitimate albums on their own. The songs are repeated over and over, yes. That being said the true completists have bought all of these. I'm going to buy the Chicago show that I attend and thats it. With the Netburn feature, it would be cool if you could mix & match songs. So you could make a 2 cd set of just Debasers from around the world. Put that playlist into Itunes shuffle mode and see how long you could last before you drive yourself insane. I like this idea...somebody should try it. |

Posted - 08/23/2004 : 10:36:59 Well I am only going to buy the Netburn's of the US Tour if they start adding in some other songs
If they were REALLY clever they would do something special every gig so I would be forced to buy em all |
