I am also in the fuck them camp as well.

                | bobcountry | Posted - 05/18/2004 : 22:47:36 I think it's funny that everybody celebrates this band, and yet it's only cool to like one, maybe two of their five records. That's dumbs. I mean, it's all subjective. Some people don't like the glossy production or UFO stuff or lack of Kim's singing. Other people latch onto the last two albums for those very same reasons. I like it all, so it's hard to pick them apart.

And Helmut, I'm totally with you on Havalina - that song kills me.

                | Helmut | Posted - 05/18/2004 : 20:19:21 I reckon Bossonova was the most complete album, each track complemented each other and it worked well as a whole. It was their most intelligent album and had a good overall 60s pop meets sci-fi feel. If you listen to individual tracks it loses the effect. Play it straight through and fall in love with it. The three albums before Bossonova were chocked full of singles and great individual tracks. I think Trompe Le Monde tried to hark back to the early albums, but the songs weren't as strong and that is why it is often canned. Havalinna is the most criminally overlooked Pixies song in my humble opinion.

These are the people who want 5 Surfer Rosa or Doolittle clones, and refuse to try new food, and never travel out of state, and wish the Beatles never left the Cavern Club, etc etc etc. Fuck them.

I suppose it depends on what you like about the Pixies
Like Surfer Rosa with a doctorate.

 you're right
 but
 don't you think it's a bit
 stupid to say
that after Doolitle it was obviously down hill for the pixies?

that it was a 'new' story
 it is in fact
 based on old interviews
 and most of the quotes
 are from
 the dvd

 VERY VERY BAD ARTICLE
 it also downplays
 bossanova and trompe

 for me
it's the story of the reunion
 the downplaying
 never heard it before
 and suddenly
 damn!

'Oor' magazine gave a bad review
to Doolittle (1989) and a great review
 to Bossanova (1990)
apparently nobody of that time works
 for the magazine anymore
 because
 they totally
 shifted now
 they love doolittle
 and kinda hate bossanova
but say it is at least better than
 Trompe le Monde
 which was really bad
 according to them
The great mojo article of a few years ago
said that Trompe Le Monde was arguably their best
 I agree with them
