It also seems that the concerts may lead to some new studio recordings. Let's pray together!
Where could this bit on info come from? What could it mean? I know I'll be praying. |

Posted - 05/13/2004 : 06:36:53 On a vaguely related subject, has anyone ever heard of The Ukrainians? They're sort of a David Gedge/Wedding Present side project who released an album of Ukrainian folk versions of Smiths songs. Proper bo, I tell you. Anyway, that really did happen, so you never know...

Posted - 05/12/2004 : 23:50:58 Though I'm sure it's a joke, I couldn't complain too much if it were real. Kinda like how there's no such thing as bad publicity. If somebody actually put that much time into a Pixies song, it'd be kind of flattering in a way. A disturbing way, but flattering none the less. Am I making any sense? |

Posted - 05/07/2004 : 09:47:26 I'm scared about new songs. Sure they can still sound like in good old days (It's easy to imagine a Massif Centrale Pixies version), but I don't know if Frank will be prepared to do it.

Posted - 05/05/2004 : 07:41:50 I'd really like to hear what a new Pixies song would sound like. I wonder if the sound we know and love would return, or if the years of travelling in different directions would make for an even more diverse vibe.
If they announce a new album, I will hit the roof.
Frank? Are you getting this? |

They didn't grab it from here, though...

Posted - 05/01/2004 : 22:51:29 I'll vouch for what kottke said, because I asked Lovering the same questions after the Fine Line show and got the same answer.
(I also asked him if they ever jammed on "Cannonball" during their rehearsals and he just laughed.) |

Posted - 04/27/2004 : 21:00:46 Remember, Frank is known for dropping an entire album (or two) with the Catholics in between tour stops. When you look at how much the Pixies toured back in the day, much of Bossanova and Trompe must have been written on the road. That having been said, they will be on the road for the next 8 months at least. HMM!

Posted - 04/27/2004 : 16:54:57 One the one hand, I can see that for now the Pixies just want to focus on playing the old tunes (which is just great with me, actually), but considering they'll be together for the rest of the year, it still wouldn't surprise me if after some weeks, creativity start flowing and they'll be doing new things together. On the other hand, FB has (if I'm not mistaken) never written a song together with another pixie, has he? |

Posted - 04/26/2004 : 18:14:20 I talked to Lovering at the bar before the Friday Van. show for a few minutes. Among other things, he said they have no plans to record or play any new material. He said they were all just happy playing what they were playing right now.

Posted - 04/21/2004 : 14:09:05 After reading one of the recent FB interviews, I understand that the whole reunion-thing started out as a joke as well, and then turned into reality because FB was happily surprised by all this overwhelming positive feedback on the web. Therefore; we can't make to many jokes about new pixies material, because Jokes Work! Jokes Become Reality!
P.S. A friend of mine rented out his horse to David Lovering's Sister, who told him that David just wrote an Andalucian Polka, which FB apparantly was crazy about. It's gonna be recorded for a new three-sided 5" CD, which 4AD will release in august. Don't believe me? Well, you can pre-order the CD allready on the web, just go here:

Can I please ask you how you know? Or anyone for that matter...I'm writing a story on the Pixies for my class (I'm a journalism student), and I really want to get fan perspectives on the reunion and also any info I can on the possiblity of new Pixies material...but I need some reliable sources and not just website rumors, ya know. Posted - 04/20/2004 : 16:49:57 Well, you just have all of today's answers, don't you?
I met Frank after the Winnipeg show, and he gave me some hand written lyrics to the Czech dirge. I couldn't understand most of it (it being in Czech), but it seemed to contains many themes, including biblical references, allusions to incest and self-love, with an undercurrent of space travel. |

Posted - 04/20/2004 : 16:36:13 It is related to "information" from the NME back in March, which itself refers to pixiesmusic: http://www.nme.com/news/107684.htm
PIXIES have revealed they will be playing new material on their forthcoming reunion tour.
The band play their first live shows in 12 years this spring, kicking off in Winnipeg on April 14. The jaunt includes an extensive trawl round the summer European festivals, a couple of dates supporting Red Hot Chili Peppers, and a four-night, sold-out residency at London Brixton Academy.
A statement on the band's new website pixiesmusic.com states: "The Pixies have rehearsed and they will rehearse again in March in a secret location in Los Angeles.
"Yes, they have decided which tunes they are doing. For the most part, they'll be doing Pixies ' tunes. As for new songs, there's a Latvian lullaby, a Czech dirge and a Bulgarian ballad."
