I've just been told this morning, that the US and Canada will get the Pixies DVD one week early, so on April 27th next week
the Best Of still holds the May 4th release date though
everywhere else is still May 3rd/4th as before |

I guess it was priced fairly for the content, but man is it thin overall. The best thing on the disc is Miles' video diary stuff. Makes it nearly impossible not to absolutely adore Kim.

I got the DVD, and all I can say is BLOODY BRILLIANT!!!
The documentary is cool, the videos look and sound great, the behind the scenes stuff is a nice treat, but the real cream of the crop in this collection is the Town and Country show from '88.
They kicked ass live!!! Frank wastes NO time between songs, and even continues through a song when his guitar had a broken string that needed to be replaced. Did you notice how he kind of air guitars while they're restringing his guitar? I guess he still wanted to keep the feel of the music. Awesome!!! I love how they're all dripping with sweat by the time they're through. They really gave that show their all!! And of course Joey "vamping" on Vamos is shit-hot!!
Hope everyone else is enjoying theirs as much as I am mine. I'm in Heaven...and everything is fine. :)

Jo only informed us of the release date change on 19th so it looks like this happened at the last minute. It makes sense that plenty of places wouldn't have it in today. And if they do, some stores may not be putting it out on the shelf yet because they're still holding out for the old street date.
I wouldn't go out anywhere expecting to find it yet. Call first and don't just confirm that they have it in the store. Ask if it's out on the shelf. |

Wow, that sucks. I called another localation of my local indie store and they said it should arrive by 5pm this afternoon in their store. Not in the location I had tried this afternoon though. They are supposed to hold it for me. I hope they actually have it.

i went to futureshop at lunch and found the dvd on the shelf to my joy.
but then i was trying to have them price match with hmv, through that process they saw that their release dates still said next week. so they said that it is supposed to be released next week and it was put on the shelf too early and they wouldn't sell it to me, despite me telling them that the release date got pushed ahead.

I know that Canadian HMV stores should all have it today. I asked a clerk yesterday and he said they would have about 20 per store selling for $23.99 Cdn.

Tuning in from work...my Best Buy district is one of the few that have 0 on hand throughout the entire district! I can see Derek's store has 2 copies...most stores throughout the company has 3 or 4 copies on hand. Hope I don't get busted for this!

Amazon shipped the DVD on the 25th according to my Completed Orders page. However it still says it will come between the 3rd and 5th of May. I don't beleve this however because everything else I ever ordered from them took 4 days tops...
This is a DVD though... Everything else I ever got off them was CDs... Ah well I'll have to wait and see.

I went to a few places today and asked around about it (the DVD), and they all either do not have it in yet, or say that the release date is indeed, May 4th. I'll have to call Best Buy tomorrow at work and ask if they have it in or not.

Space in the Sunday advertising for places like Best Buy, Sears, etc. is bought by the company who put out the product. It's not about what Best Buy is interested in.
If you see, say, the J. Lo CD in the weekly Best Buy ad it's because J. Lo's label paid for the space.
The Pixies DVD is sort of a cult thing. It makes sense that Beggar's or whoever wouldn't invest in getting it space in the Sunday circular next to all the middle of the road stuff in there. |

True. And I watched Gouge on Trio the other day too. Pretty nice documentary, I thought. That guy from whatever magazine it was and a couple other people annoyed me by talking badly about Bossanova and Trompe le Monde, but overall it was cool. And I agree that the band interviews were the best. |

Just watching this right now.. So weird having been to a show a few nights ago, and watching the LIVE track... FB was actually kinda cute..hehe..
'GOUGE' is playing right now...the 'compliments' are kinda obnoxious, the discussion between the band members is pretty neat tho.

Correct, the region 2 DVD (Europe, Japan, etc) is released 3rd May.

Damn what a cool DVD... I saw the Gouge-documentary on TV, and it made me a pixies fan... well, not a very dedicated one at first, but I did buy my first CD like 2 months later... kick ass
