Posted - 04/15/2004 : 18:39:11 It's maybe worth pointing out that they're not on the same day as the Darkness at T In. Pixies are on the Sunday, along with PJ Harvey, Massive Attack, Kings of Leon and Franz Ferdinand. Which, in my estimation, ain't too shabby. |

Posted - 04/09/2004 : 03:16:44 I'd rather they stopped trying to impersonate talented artists. They do a worse-than-lousy job of it.

Posted - 04/09/2004 : 02:18:25 I'd rather see The Darkness open for the Pixies than Metallica. Not that either would ever happen. |

Posted - 03/13/2004 : 13:00:12 i'm from england and have been drowned out by the darkness for some time. friends either hate them or just see the funny side and give them a break. if there was ever a pop idol for bbands they'd win. it aint about the music.
proverbial you're conclusion is spot on. please dont buy their album. i know its one mans opinion and the choice is yours, but for all you who havent heard there other stuff or live in the uk there nothing special. people compare them to queen, no comparison. and i'm not a queen fan. |

Posted - 03/13/2004 : 12:30:19 the darkness? come on, even if it is just in fun, and not meant to be taken seriously, its still terrible. and highly over played. id be really dissapointed if the pixies come to ny and the darkness opened for them. |

Posted - 03/04/2004 : 18:49:14 I want to give the Darkness a chance, but I'm mighty scared to buy the album. Sure that one song is catchy, but if I hear it three more times I'm going to start hating it.
Conclusion: I'm not going to buy the album.

Posted - 03/04/2004 : 12:41:58 I think the Darkness is a very amusing band. I think it's obvious that they don't take themselves seriously, so I don't feel compelled to either. I think if the Pixies toured with the Darkness (which they're not) it would be a very laughable experience. Here you have the most amazing band in existence and then a wacky cock-rock group like the Darkness. It'd be a fun show. Go see the Pixies for the music and the Darkness for the spectacle and laughs. And just in case you're wondering, no, I don't like the Darkness' music.

Posted - 02/17/2004 : 05:21:02 I dunno,i just think there's a lot of hype over them cos' they're british and we haven't had a good popular rock band who do guitar solos in a while so the media or whoever are just pushing them out there

No way, they're totally overrated, and comedy rock really isnt funny, and generally not very good either
Sure, their image is novelty, but the music is pretty good rock 'n' roll, regardless of the style it's played it.

Posted - 02/16/2004 : 05:36:17 I actually quite like the fact that Metallica take their 'rawk' seriously - it's part of the whole package deal they sell. I've a soft spot for the Darkness too though - and they're VERY entertaining live. 'Street Spirit' at Glastonbury was a hoot. Each to their own though I suppose - you're never going to please everybody with festival line-ups....

Posted - 02/15/2004 : 15:57:02 The big deal is that the topic heading made it sound like the d*rkness were supporting the Pixies headlining gigs. (or at least it did to me) I'd rather shove a cactus up my arse than listen to them! :-) |

Posted - 02/15/2004 : 12:47:53 I don't see how this is such a big deal. It's just a festival and The Darkness just happens to be playing at the same festival.

Just at T in the Park.
Durrrrr.
Sorry, but I still think that them both playing at the same place (that being T in the park) is pretty sad; I mean, many Pixies fans aren't going to want to pay tickets for a Darkness show. Unless I misenterpreted the article, they're both playing on the same day. |

The Pixies will play throughout Europe between May 28th and July 10th, when they headline the first day of Scotland's T In The Park. They join Muse, David Bowie and The Darkness.

Posted - 02/10/2004 : 20:24:03 Good, 1 read other than my own and it hasn't been locked yet. I get so afraid to post things lest they've already been posted. Anyway, this is insane. Pixies touring with a novelty band. Maybe it's all for the better, though, in some incredibly complex way not able to be perceived by my weakened, underdeveloped brain.
