A very interesting read, I get the impression (and hope) he has not been misquoted in this interview.

Bands becoming cult because college kids discover them? That's the strangest definition of cult I've ever heard.

These songs will become cult if they stick with the Pixies fan; what I mean is, if in 5 years time fans play them with same anticipation they play something like Motorway to Roswell or The Happening now, or cherish them like heirlooms and pass on their exuberance for them through word of mouth, covering them on their guitars or talking about them with passion on forums like this. Much time is needed before that one is answered but the fact that the EPs have been greeted a bit 'meh' by the likes of Pitchfork only increases the chances of them maturing in a culty way irrespective of whether the song quality has gone down.

Yes, it's a really enjoyable interview to read.

What an awesome interview. It should be the last post before lock down on some of these controversy/analysis threads.

Im especially thrilled to hear of the volume of material recorded/written/demoed. Also pleasing to hear the intention of having female backing vocals on future recordings

So true.

I'd be interested in hearing the five tracks Kim Deal was on.

He tweeted the link, so it's probably accurate.

Yeah, seems to be all spelled out in this one. Makes a lot of sense really.
