Just got back from this. Was pretty cool. Charles was very engaging, giving quite long answers to the questions. What I liked in particular was that he didn't intellectualise for the sake of it - some of the questions could have led him to go up his own arse but instead he came across as very normal.

A few things he covered/talked about:
-a lot on his early life and early experiences with music. A neighbour played the drums and that was fascinating so he got a little drum kit aged 6 or 7 and then got into the guitar etc.
-talked a lot about Manchester and how it is Pixies' spiritual/second home
-Said there is always a lot of passive aggressive tension in Pixies, as they none of them are good at talking to one another. It was said sort of in jest.
-Kim Deal leaving was more of a hindrance than a huge shock because of the timing. But he was quite kind about her - saying she has an aura about her that people love.
-talked a lot about influences, iggy pop, violent femmes, donnovan.

There was a Q&A from the fans. Some proper creepy fuckers asked questions. He also got the inevitable Kurt Cobain question and dealt with it really well by saying that when musicians name check other musicians in the press it's a bit like saying they want to meet up with each other for a drink. He said it was a shame Cobain then killed himself which sort of ruined that. He also compared it to Jesus liking your music - it's nice but doesn't make any difference to him.

He then did an acapella performance with no mic (was a small venue) - doing new house of the pope, subbaculture six sixty six and maybe one other song but I can't remember.

There was a lot covered anyway, and he was relaxed and very funny. There's a million things I've not mentioned. i'm sure if anyone else was there they can cover what i've missed.
