1.0 Really? I haven't read that site in a few years, and I definitely won't be returning to it anytime soon. Yes, there is a legacy. Yes, you like singing along to Hey. But objectively speaking, these are some well written tunes. |

This interview... Like most interviews with... you know, with Charles... I mean, you know, it's like when, you know, he could have said... you know, it's not like it really... you know, not like... you know, but then instead he just... you know, so it obviously means... you know, it means that it's clearly connected to... you know, there's not really much to say or even think about something like that especially considering... you know, because it's so obvious, you know... I guess in the end it is a lot like that. Knowhattamean?
But I am... you know... I am really glad it's all been explained so clearly.

Posted - 09/21/2013 : 08:25:39 Oh man, this is good stuff. I'm dying to see the rest.
They seem so happy to be Pixies at this point, making new music and being relevant (look at all the press they are getting!) At the same time Joey does look sad that Kim's gone.

From what I've heard, it's very rare for Pitchfork to grade anything that low. I think the Pixies should be honored.
Ultimately, the worst review any band can get is to be called mediocre. A 5/10 rating is worse than a 1/10 rating. When a record actively annoys/pisses off a reviewer, that just makes me curious to hear it.
Weezer Make Believe was 0.4 if I'm right. And they had a pissing monkey review for Jet. Look it up.

thanks Bill - reading (?) that jet review that totally made my day! here it is to save the rest of you looking: http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/9464-shine-on/
the review of the other jet album is very good as well. |

I suggest making a limited run of high-quality T-shirts with the above quote on the front, and "FrankBlack.net" on the back (or just underneath, in teeny tiny letters), and selling them as a fundraiser for the upkeep of this site.

Posted - 09/16/2013 : 04:21:49 it seems that pitchfork is just looking for attention. i can't imagine a "professional" music critic objectively listening to these songs and reading the lyrics and come up with a score of 1. if i was employed at pitchfork i would be very embarrassed.

Posted - 09/15/2013 : 20:49:04 The review has been discussed deep inside some of the other threads.
I consider it the equivalent to discussing whether Lionel Messi has lost the knack of making a good tikka masala ie it's a mistake to engage with the premise that they know what they're talking about.
