The interviewer only mentions in passing that Kim was Greer's girlfriend, but doesn't ask any questions about Kim....kind of cowardly if you ask me.

But the lure of cash is too strong for the Pixies and they've re-packaged, re-released and re-toured everything they ever did ten times over and even they realise that if they are gonna head back out on the road in 2013 it is going to have to be with fresh material. Otherwise they should seriously throw in the towel. Maybe Dave and Joey can do a Martinis reunion tour. |

I'm just creeped out by Fissile's obsession with these peoples' personal lives. And it IS an obsession because the stuff he shares isn't even that interesting. If he/she had some real dirt on the band, I could kinda understand the motivation to share it (while still not approving of it). But Fissle doesn't have DIRT, just creepy details about the band's houses and (pretty mundane) relationships.
It's simultaneously boring and disturbing. |

Kim Deal, James Greer, Robert Pollard back in 1994.
Greer once told an interesting story about how his relationship with Kim ended. Deal and Greer were engaged to be married. The two of them were somewhere in the UK, either for a Breeders or GBV gig. They were in the lobby of a hotel, when Greer received a page from some woman.....this was back before everyone had a mobile. Greer claims that he has no idea who this woman was, or why she was trying to page him. Deal accused him cheating and it turned into a huge row. Kim stormed off and flushed the engagement ring Greer had given her down the toilet. Greer claims that he eventually got her calmed down, but it was the beginning of the end of their relationship.
So what is the point of the above story? It shows you how the mind of Kim functions, and why there will be no new Pixies. Kim is not the forgiving type.
BTW, Greer was a scribbler for Spin magazine when he met Kim. Greer accompanied her on the U2 tour where the Pixies were the opening act. Greer wrote an anti U2 hit piece for Spin magazine while the Pixies were still touring with them. This caused a tremendous amount of bad blood between the Pixies and the U2 organization. Because of what Greer had done, Thompson had become enraged at both Kim and Greer. |
