A few weeks ago during the radio show, one of my producers, Scott, gave me a DVD to check out. Now, I get a lot of stuff to look at and I rarely find the time to sit down and watch stuff, however this particular DVD called 'Loud Quiet Loud' was a tour documentary about one of my favorite bands, the Pixies.

So tonight I managed to find some free time and sat down to watch it. It is both a study in how elusive genius songwriting is and also a character study of four very different individuals, in short I was glued to the screen.

The brilliance of the Pixies cannot be denied, in fact I'm not sure if there's been a band that's surpassed their creativity since, I'm sure people will argue this, but here is a band that follows no formula and bring melody to a new zenith. Song after song I was just floored at how unique this band was, to the point where I pulled out a guitar and began writing, and trust me that doesn't happen often.

If you get a chance to see this film please do, it's a brilliantly honest study of an awkward band touring together after a long hiatus. Being a touring musician myself I was really impressed at just how honest it was, sometimes making me cringe with recognition.

Long live the Pixies.
