Unless you have a copy of the Pixies doing the Breeders' Iris, that is precisely what is in dispute.

And I wouldn't call anything the Goo Goo Dolls have ever done 'classic'.

Btw, that "Iris" is not a cover but an original song, written by Kim.

Far be it from me to disagree, but I'm not seeing the whole Iris + Goo Goo Dolls = Classic. Could it be considered Their high water mark and therefore the best of their best, sure I'll give 'em that. But I can't see it as a classic.

Here's a little interview clip and the video for Iris, taken from old music programme SNUB TV, I think:

Hmm, that makes little sense to me if they're only going to show Kim's solo career... I see no FB solo songs listed, and he by far has been more prolific.

I think I read recently that's it a clip of the Breeders performing the song, as part of the documentary, perhaps illustrating the solo careers that Frank and Kim have enjoyed.

So far as I know they've not played any Breeders songs nor Goo Goo Dolls songs, though the former makes far more sense and I have no other explanation for Iris appearing on the tracklist. Perhaps this slipped under the radar? It would be a pretty big deal I'd think...

You've misunderstood (for shame).

Having Iris listed on the tracklist of DVD suggests that the Pixies played the song. I'll believe it when I see it, but that's why I asked whether they had played it (not because of your posting, but the Breeders are great).

i understood what you meant, transmarine - however the link above lists the song iris as part of the tracklist for the loudquietloud dvd.

No, no, no...I think I may have stated that wrong. PIXIES never played Iris. What I meant was having seen the BREEDERS a handful of times, Iris is my favorite song to watch them perform. The BREEDERS to perform, that is. Does that make sense? Am I just saying things all wrong? Or have I misunderstood others? Oh, I'm so full of self-doubt.

weird... maybe they did play iris at a gig - they did play a "frank black" song (all around the world) at the newport acoustic gig.

But, the Pixies didn't play a Breeders song did they? I think I would have heard about that.
TRANSMARINE Posted - 08/04/2006 : 11:19:26
This is probably my fav BREEDERS song to watch them do live.
