The article talks about that here in Chile we are not as lucky as you guys that lives in USA or Europe, where all of our favourites bands make their tour, only a few of them includes southamerica, so they journalist interview fans that doesn't wait that their favourite band comes to Chile and they traveled abroad in order to watch their concerts.
Un Abrazo and many thanks for your comments!
P.D.: Yeah Carl, I went from Santiago to Santiago!!! , althought in the concert I was between Frank and Kim , and yes, Teenage Fan Club dissapointed me, they're almost boring live. |

Teenage Fanclub supported The Pixies at Lansdowne Road, Dublin, last year. I wasn't too impressed, to be honest, but then I never got into them.

It's not a praise, but Christian Cuadros (30 years old, civil engineer) looks like Frank Black, Pixies' frontman. In fact he is an absolut fan of the band that marked 90's sound. And sure, he almost died when he knew that they reunited on 2004 after leaving the ego-crisis between Francis and Kim Deal.
The problem was that they'd only play in Brazil on May 8th of that year. He was informed with three months of anticipation through internet. He inmediatly got in touch with his cousin from Sao Paulo, he agreed with some friends from Pixies' fan club of Brazil and he took the money that he saved to fly to Paraná. "It was the 'Curitiba Pop Festival'. As the city is patrimony of humanity, it received some funds to insure itself as an exclusive event and turn the city into a touristic rock centre", he explains. If the band didn't come to you, obviously you should travel to it.
Meanwhile, Arturo Figueroa (Termita)[a chilean band] tried to reunite fans on the same three months of anticipation. The idea was to rent a bus "just to get to Brazil and to buy the tickets there. The problem was that people was leaving the idea, so it never happened". Christian didn't know anything about it. "I was going with a friend but he couldn't get the money. Besides at that time I was changing job. I was changing from a company in Viña del Mar to another one in Santiago. I told them that I would accept the job with the condition that they'd wait for me after going to the show". Just like that.
He took a plane to Sao Paulo. He arrived on Thursday. He had dinner with his cousin and at 7 o'clock in the morning he took the bus to Curitiba with some friends from Sao Paulo that he met through the internet. He suffered with the climate. But it was just a little thing. He stayed in a hotel and he went to the 2 shows of the festival. "Teenage Fan Club was kinda boring, they sound better on the records. On Saturday was the Pixies show which was unbelievable obviously, brazilian audience wasn't so enthusiastic though. In fact the Pixies made just one encore. I think that in Chile we wouldn't let them to leave the stage!".
When the show finished, Cuadros took the bus to Sao Paulo. He said goodbye to his cousin and he came back to Santiago. At 03:00 pm he was already on his new job. Tired but happy!!

What a nice story!! I would've loved to go with you Christian but I couldn't get enough money .
I hope the Pixies come to Southamerica again, and they must play in Chile this time!!! |

something like:
fb.net's own Christian looks like Frank Black and is a huge fan, so big that last May he flew from Santiago, Chile all the way to Sao Paulo, Brazil and took a bus to the Curitiba pop fest to see the Pixies. Then he rode the bus back to Sao Paulo and flew back home and went back to work. Tired but content.
