Posted - 08/10/2005 : 08:20:10 Alec Eiffel would've been good, but hey! That's one of the greatest sets they've played this tour!
I hope we don't have too long a wait before the DVD is released! |

Posted - 08/10/2005 : 08:10:20 A bunch. They opened with Subbacultcha in Boston on 6/15 and also played Allison. They've been doing Subbacultcha a lot, actually.

It's a song of Honeycomb, I think Frank promotes a little bit his new solo stuff with the Pixies...
So, here's another dvd, with 4 Trompe song! And only one off Bossanova...
This one seems better than the upcoming dvd, just one year to expect it.
Are there other shows filmed this year? |

Pixies perform picture-perfect at secret show By Herald staff Tuesday, August 9, 2005 - Updated: 06:34 PM EST
If last night's surprise show at the Paradise was any indication, the Pixies are having a ball with their continuing reunion tour. The Massachusetts-spawned quartet reconvened last May with no definite plans about the future. Fourteen months and hundreds of sold out shows later - including a first ever acoustic set over the weekend at the Newport Folk Festival - they appeared playful and loose and, of course, intense and rocking during their 90-minute set. The Pixies returned to their old stomping grounds to film a DVD as part of the ``Club Date'' series from Eagle Rock Entertainment. To accommodate the seven cameras, the club was filled to only about two-thirds capacity. The undersized audience - including old school fans and young ones who caught on during the band's off years - were treated to the ear shredding roar of classics like ``Debaser,'' ``Planet of Sound,'' ``U-Mass,'' ``Tame'' and ``Bone Machine'' featuring the cathartic scream of Frank Black and the strafing guitar theatrics of Joey Santiago. More melodic rockers like ``Gigantic,'' ``Monkey Gone to Heaven'' and ``Wave of Mutilation'' came in a tangy sugar salt rush and obscurities like ``In Heaven (The Lady in the Radiator Song)'' drew whoops of delight. We were afforded a dazzling peek behind the curtain during the show when we went out to command central. There in a state-of-the-art mobile studio a highly animated director and small crew called out shots to each of the cameramen in controlled chaos as they oversaw 50 video screens and multiple angles on each Pixie. The DVD is expected to drop in September 2006.

Posted - 08/09/2005 : 18:38:30 Far as I can tell, this wasn't acoustic.
They did 3 acoustic shows: Atlantic City on Wed. Aug. 3; Albany, N.Y. Aug. 4; and the Newport Folk Festival on Saturday Aug. 6.
For legal purposes the only official acoustic show was Newport. Anyway, the secret show was electric, I believe. And I will let you know the moment I get a copy of any of the three acoustic gigs.
