I think I remember Grohl's quote regarding that incident. He was going to sing the vocals for that song all nice-like, but Frank showed up to visit Gil Norton and he got all nervous, so he just screamed the whole song. Then he asked Frank if he wanted to sing on it too and Frank said it was good enough as it was, and Grohl was very flattered by that statement. I believe he said "I couldn't believe it. Frank Black, THE Frank Black, said one of my songs was 'good enough'." I think that's how it went.

Posted - 06/25/2005 : 12:40:12 Well.. it's just a little blub in an article about David Grohl.
It's in a section called "Man of Many Bands" and it lists all the artists Dave has recorded with.
That quote was under the name David Bowie... so at first I was excited too that DG DB and the Pixies were recording ... but it's really I am guessing maybe Frank hooking up DB & DG to collaborate... I mean how cool would it be if they all did collaborate? But I am guessing it was just DG and DB... I guess I should have put this in the FB section. whoops! |

Posted - 06/25/2005 : 09:08:32 ok these aren't technically tour items... so I thought I would post here anyway...
On the potttery barn kid's catelogue this kid had a Pixies button on his back pack!!
July's issue of Maxim had a little quote from Dave Grohl..."I got a call from Frank Black of the Pixies, who said, "We're going into the studio tomorrow with David Bowie. Can you play the drums? Um, yeah!!"

Posted - 06/13/2005 : 17:14:53 I'll forgive the guys for stuffing seven or so new songs into their set, as several of those numbers had a fresh, funky feel.
The bigger problem was that many of the band's jams meandered too long into self-indulgence.
I read that in the article and I was like WHAT??? Their longest song Vamos can't be more than 4 mins...and Why is he dissing these new songs?? Then I realized he started with the Pixies and then went into DMB. LOL. |

Posted - 06/12/2005 : 08:54:47 It's easy to get these stories, I have Google Alerts for Pixies, and you can check Google news. I love posting them, though. Some of the online papers require you to register to check out articles, of course (often for free, but you have to enter a load of your details). Sometimes, you get a direct link to the story with Google Alerts, there was one from News & Observer but I deleated the email before copying the link, and I can only get the registration page!!

Hahahaha... That may be the best description of Kim's singing I've ever seen.
quote: The 1990 "Bossanova" and 1991 "Trompe Le Monde" releases mostly were ignored.
If he thinks they were ignored this time, he should have seen them last year...
