Posted - 11/13/2004 : 11:33:44 i was thumbing through the Q magazine (or something like that) and they was talking about pink floyd getting back together and how much money they would make. i'm stilll waiting for the syd barrett lineup but anyways... they mentioned the pixies and how successful their reunion was by saying that "sources" estimate that the band made 12 million. now who knows how accurate this is. but just the same. interesting stuff. |

Well, personally I have bought 9 tickets, 6 shirts, 4 disclive CDs, and 2 sticker packs. That's about $550, so not a bad start.

Dude, you're a regular Medici!
Two tickets, two shirts, one Disc Live, two Netburns, one sticker pack. $200? Any more and I'll have to sell the cat. |

Posted - 11/16/2004 : 11:24:23 the kansas city article says they expect to take in $14 million of revenue. not a bad year, but then of course there's all the expenses- non alcoholic beers, sparkling waters, smoked salmon platters, biscuits with roule, swiss mocha drinks, luxury hotel rooms.......

Posted - 11/16/2004 : 09:34:03 Some interesting facts I found in a bunch of articles. Go to Google News and type in "Pixies Chicago" to get some reviews. Before the Pixies tour ends on Dec. 18, the band is expected to play to 415,000 fans and pull in more than $14 million in revenue. In Chicago alone, the band will rake in nearly $750,000 and play to 23,000 fans during an unprecedented five-night run at the Aragon Ballroom that began Saturday. In its first incarnation, the band's peak audience in Chicago as a headliner was 2,500 at the Riviera, so the band has essentially increased its following tenfold. Saturday night opened an unprecedented run at the Aragon that will move about 22,500 tickets. That's a United Center-size show, a Tweeter Center-size show, a show that's -- OK, fine, gigantic -- all for a band without a label and exactly one new The Pixies playing five nights to about 22,500 people would have been unheard of a decade or so ago, yet in Chicago this week they are doing just that.

Posted - 11/15/2004 : 07:06:49 12 million for the whole band actually sounds a little low to me. I bet it's more. |

Posted - 11/14/2004 : 16:46:58 Yeah, I agree with Rita. I only hope that the figure Cindy Lou quoted was in British Pounds Sterling, so it would be double in US dollars. You gotta keep in mind income taxes for that amount are goint to take 30% right off the top...so that's 1.2MM gone right away.
I was hoping they could make more because in the sceme of things e.g. retirement... I just wish they could get more $$$, so they never have to worry about it again. They're all such great artists and have given us so much .... it only seems fair they can live and then retire in style.

Posted - 11/14/2004 : 14:09:13 this number does not surprise me - the soundboard recordings, relatively low-end stage set, the fact that they aren't all 19 year olds with coke problems, the multiple night stands at a few key venues - that has HUGE bucks written all over it. plus their rider on the smoking gun wasn't ridiculous - i can't see them spending too much unneccesary $

Posted - 11/14/2004 : 03:01:10 10 million USD is what he said in an interview on the dutch radio 4 years ago, but that was still in the time that he didn't want to regroup with his former bandmates
so yeah I can't really see them being milionairs but on the other hand they toured like mad people so it could be but they don't look like millionairs (not sure how they look either)

Posted - 11/13/2004 : 12:58:51 Didn't he want 5 mil, though? This works out to a mere 3 mil per pixie. Peanuts! This tour is practically a charitable donation.
