Nor did I, or would I, call it a celebration. But the singer is undoubtedly fond of Fitzy -- you can get that from just the nickname Fitzy -- and the way he sings it is tender. Despite the sad tale, the song makes me smile. So does "Sing for Joy," for that matter. But yeah, to each his own interpretation.

It's certainly that as well, and I wouldn't call it a celebration either, but there's certainly something to this man besides the drinking and lack of hygiene. I suppose that's what I see in the song.

I just got back from listening to Don't Cry That Way three times in a row in the car. Pure beauty. Just pure. If I were a country singer I'd be all over it. It would do great on their single charts and on the country video channels. Maybe that's why some folks don't like it, but I'm tellin' ya'll: it's a great song that features a certain kind of vocal Frank about as well as it gets.
