Down with Down To You! It's been voted off.
This game is going along strangely... Obvious choices aren't mentioned even once while a lot of great ones have been cited. Oh well.

01 In The Time Of My Ruin
02 Down To You
03 Highway To Lowdown
04 Kiss My Ring
05 My Terrible Ways
06 Fitzgerald
07 Elijah
08 It's Just Not Your Moment
09 The Real El Rey
10 Where The Wind Is Going
11 Holland Town
12 Sad Old World
13 Don't Cry That Way
14 Fare Thee Well

Has anyone ever found the real story behind MTW? I've been trying to google it but no luck. Anyway, I agree that the lyrics are great and the songwriting is stellar on this song, but I really can't stand the way it's played. That sax is too much and the falsetto, well... it works on Sleep but definitely not on this one.

Round closed, by the way.

No, no, no! Before you vote for this song, check out the lyrics. Frank wrote this after seeing a story on the news right after Hurricane Katrina. The historical significance of the song has to lend it some serious credence.

I live next door to a couple who lived in New Orleans when Katrina hit, and I can't help but think of them when I hear this song. What solidified it for me was when the guy spent this summer in jail for some transgression back in New Orleans. He's back from jail now, but they're moving out soon -- because on the anniversary of the hurricane, they found out the rental house they were in had been foreclosed by the bank. At any rate, I keep wondering if this song is about my neighbor. It easily could be.

The thing is, there were so many stories like this that were stirred up by the hurricane, and now these folks have been scattered around the country. I appreciate that Frank wrote a song about one of them.

Where is the Wind Going? Next, hopefully.

For the record: cassanda is, I HATE you, stop voting for Don't Cry That Way. That's a top ten Frank song rigth there. And My Terrible Ways, outside of some... less than stellar... moments vocally, is brilliant. I love it.

How could it have the best intro ever? It is the exact same first 2 bars as "Kiss My Ring"...

FMRM is decidedly not better than HC.

It's the opposite actually. The song sounded kinda good on the Honeycomb leaked version, when compared to the other songs on the album. But FMRM is way better than HC and WTWIG now sucks.

Did everyone that dislikes Where the Wind Is Going hear it first on the Honeycomb advance? I heard it for the first time on FMRM and it was one of the few tracks to stood out on the first listen. It's not the best FB song ever, but it's catchy as hell.

Frankly, I think it would be a pretty good song without the ugly intro. And coming right after the excellent Real El Rey doesn't help either. But yeah, I'll vote it off next round I think.

At last, people voting against Holland Town and Fare Thee Well. The cover on Disc 1 didn't last that long.

My Terrible Ways to go.

Another one for Highway To Lowdown. (But I do agree that Where The Wind Is Going and My Terrible Ways could be improved upon and there are better versions of Fare The Well too. I find myself singing the first line of Holland Town a lot when I'm not thinking so it's obviously got something going for it.)

uhm, nope, you're not alone

where the wind is going is the weakest one left (and the weakest one in general, I think)

I agree about the chorus of IJNYM, but the verses are too good. I'm still voting for "Where the Wind is Going," though apparently I'm the only one who doesn't much care for it.

I hate Highway to Lowdown, but I'm voting for My Terrible Ways because 1) it's my second least favorite, 2) it's obviously more willing to go.

(And Fare Thee Well is probably the worst Frank album ender of all time. I'll vote for it next round)
ATBNG Posted - 09/03/2006 : 11:03:23
I'm voting for Fare Thee Well. I like concert versions I've heard better than this one. Plus, it's a cover.
Cult_Of_Frank Posted - 09/03/2006 : 10:29:24
I like the verses but the choruses of IJNYM, particularly the backing vocals, are like nails on a chalkboard for me. But I'm not ready to vote yet...
