Posted - 04/21/2006 : 13:34:45 I've recentlty seen one of these movies and thought it was better than expected, but since I can't discuss it in a general movie thread it's now a game. What is the best movie to star two of 4 modern day Hope & Crosby (Owen Wilson, Ben Stiller, Will Ferrell, or Vince Vaughn)? Have I missed any?
Anchorman Dodgeball Meet the Fockers Meet the Parents Old School Royal Tenenbaums Starsly & Hutch Wedding Crashers Zoolander
Vote one off. My vote: it would be Meet the Fockers but I haven't seen it. So, I vote Old School.

Posted - 04/24/2006 : 11:31:20 Right now it seems to be a tie: 2 votes for Starsky & Hutch, Anchorman, and Meet the Fockers. Any last vote? |

Posted - 04/22/2006 : 09:48:03 Off Starsky and Hutch, even if I haven't seen Anchorman and Oldschool. I was really disapointed.

Posted - 04/22/2006 : 05:45:54 I vote off Meet The Fockers, because it's a steaming pile of crap. And I don't think I'll participate in the next round cause I haven't seen any of the other movies mentioned. Oh wait, I've seen the Royal Tenenbaums. That was ok.

Dean, seriously, you need to be careful suggesting quoting Stiller/Wilson/Ferrell movies round me, it may set off a relapse.

We need a vote. I haven't even seen all of the movies.

Posted - 04/21/2006 : 19:59:20 You're right Darwin, I worded that poorly. I meant the quote itself isn't funny when I said "that". As for Royal Tenenbaums, I thought that movie was funnier than many on that list.

Posted - 04/21/2006 : 15:19:25 But you did say "there is just nothing funny about that to make it worth quoting." I'm not defending quoting Dodgeball other than "Arghhh" when the whistle blows. |

Posted - 04/21/2006 : 15:15:38 Of course slapstick is funny (that's why I'd have a tough time voting off Meet the Parents), but it isn't funny when you quote the line by itself as the funniest line in the movie.

Posted - 04/21/2006 : 15:13:01 Rip Thorn sitting in wheelchair throwing wrenches at a high school student isn't funny? How about the guy from RadioNews unsuccessfully running through traffic? I like my movies dumb (e.g. Dodgeball), but not purposefully odd (e.g. Napoleon Dynamite). |
Cult_Of_Frank |
Posted - 04/21/2006 : 15:04:33 Well, I think they both have moments. But Dodgeball has more, scary though that may be.
But if I hear one person say, "If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball" I'm going to put the theory to test. There is just nothing funny about that to make it worth quoting.

Posted - 04/21/2006 : 15:00:55 Dodgeball, since it frankly is not funny in the slightest.

Posted - 04/21/2006 : 14:07:20 Perhaps we need to clarify this general thread business. I think a thread that narrows down from movies to discussion about a set of movies or comparisons of actors/directors/styles/whatever is different than a thread that says "If you saw a good movie list it here."
The purpose is to have MORE threads about specific discussion in general chat, not a few really broad threads. :)
Haven't seen Zoolander, which would be my pick, so I'll vote off Anchorman.
