Posted - 09/27/2004 : 07:39:58 Perhaps this has been discussed before...if so I apologize. But this weekend I saw an amazing movie called The United States of Leland, and to my surprise, Pixies songs popped up GALORE! It opened with about 30 seconds of Gigantic, a few minutes later we heard River Euphrades. An hour or so into it came Hangwire, and to top it all off a strange alternate version of Frank's Manitoba. Has anyone else come across this? If so, does anyone know what this version of Manitoba is from? Anyway, I highly recommend the film. It stars Ryan Gosling who I believe is the next big actor...not star-wise, but Monty Clift/Marlon Brando/Robert DeNiro-wise. This kid is incredible.

TRANSMARINE |
Posted - 09/27/2004 : 15:07:22 Came out early this year...limited release...indie flick. It was up for Sundance awards and London film award (am not sure off hand which catagories cause I'm at work).
Two other movies this Ryan Gosling kid was in are The Slaughter Rule (also very, very good!) and The Believer (incredible performance) about a neo-nazi teen skinhead who's secret is that he's Jewish.
But I was shocked at the Pixies tunes which were so prominently displayed in The United States of Leland. Also in this movie are Kevin Spacey, Don Cheadle, and Lena Olin.

Posted - 09/27/2004 : 09:06:20 No. The one your thinking about is some sci-fi b-movie comedy. I can't recall the title. Him and D. Philips appear as aliens. Frank's ex-wife had something to do with it as well.
