Posted - 08/19/2004 : 15:25:31 Hi all, it's possible that this topic has been covered before on the forum but it wasn't in the recent past... but sorry if I'm retreading old ground!
I am on a mission to collect every Pixies track and bootleg (aside from all live recordings, that would just be neverending). Aside from all of the comercial releases (BBC Session, Purple Tape, B-Sides etc) I have come across the following interesting/rare/novlty tracks that don't appear to have had releases;
Sister Isabel I Can't Forget Hang On To Your Ego In Heaven (Kim Deal sung version)
And most interestingly, Pixies vs Run DMC ("Gigantic mashup", rather cool)
I also have several of Charles's (supposedly) pre-Pixies demos such as Draw Attention and Keeping in Time.
If anyone can help me to complete my list I would be eternally grateful...and if anyone wants pointers on how to get the above let me know.

what about sandy's, (or somethings), bathroom
That's a fake by some band trying to get attention for themselves.

Posted - 08/20/2004 : 18:41:27 I'd expect Sister Isabel is Frank and Teenage Fanclub in a Peel Session, and the Run DMC thing to be just something somebody hacked together themselves.
I'm almost certain that 'The Dream is Over' is a 1990 London Borderline gig, not 'recorded in the US' as claimed on the cover. The oddest solo Black Francis thing I have is Planet of Sound -- weird because I didn't know he did any Trompe Le Monde era solo gigs, and I've never found any references to a solo gig with this song, or any other TLM songs. I found it on some site years ago but haven't found the site again since...

Right-click on the link and choose "Save Target As" (or your browser's equivalent), otherwise it'll probably just try to stream it...
(You'll need RealPlayer from www.real.com to play this. MP3 versions turned out huge and sounded worse...)

Posted - 08/20/2004 : 15:17:21 Sister Isabel may well be Charles post-Pixies - I think the thing that may have fooled me was the poor quality of the recording that made it sound very 1987! I liked the Run DMC thing becasue it was so unexpected; I thought the B-line worked in a hip-hop track....
Anyway, back to my original point being that can anyone please suggest other rare tracks to *seek*?

Posted - 08/20/2004 : 10:40:57 "I Can't Forget" was definitely released...It's on "I'm Your Fan" which is a Leonard Cohen tribute. You can get it:

Also, every single "In Heaven" that Kim sings on is live.
I also doubt that Sister Isabel is a Pixies track.

Posted - 08/20/2004 : 00:53:53 Wouldn't have thought Sister Isabel was done by the Pixies; think I remember Frank saying he'd only recently fallen in love with the song on the liner notes of the Frank Black/Teenage Fanclub Peel Sessions thing, and when was that? About 1996/7? |

Posted - 08/20/2004 : 00:31:43 Are you sure Sister Isabel is a Pixies track?
Its a quite well known FB number, but I've never heard of the Pixies putting it down (unlike Hang on To Your Ego which Frank has done solo and with Pixies). If your getting this stuff off fileshare then be wary of what things say they are (The Purple Tape often masquerades as "Fort Apache Sessions" for example.
Having said that - if you have a version of Sister Isabel done a la Pixies I'd probably give my left nut to hear it!

Posted - 08/19/2004 : 17:20:43 see the website 'aleceiffel' for a full discography. the rarest one i recently got was a post-pixies pre-frank black black francis solo concert (might be called 'the dream is over') where he plays a lot of pixies songs. as a guitarist myself it's pretty sweet to hear the clean rhythm.
You know the world is going crazy when the best rapper is a white guy, the best golfer is a black guy, the tallest guy in the NBA is Chinese, the Swiss hold the America's Cup, France is accusing the U.S. of arrogance, Germany doesn't want to go to war, and the three most powerful men in America are named 'Bush', 'Dick', and 'Colon.'
