Posted - 07/17/2004 : 05:48:35 hello there pixies fans. I was just wondering how everyone feels about the song Velouria. Because it doesnt seem to be mentioned very often and i think it is one of the best pixies songs. My friends who like the pixies all think its too poppy and 'plastic' but i think it is very 'pixies-like'.afterall arent the pixies a pop band with weird timings anyway? what does everyone think? |

Posted - 08/04/2004 : 17:44:41 Velouria was the second Pixies song I heard and to this day is still one of my favorites. Is it sad that I named my Telecaster "Velouria?" Because I did...

Posted - 07/27/2004 : 01:05:14 It is a good song, but I played the song for my ex-girlfriend on our one-month anniversary. Now we're split, and the stigma stays in my head, ergo, ruining the song for me.

Posted - 07/23/2004 : 13:25:36 I love Velouria.
It was the first pixies song I ever heard. It's the reason why I went out and bought bossanova. When I get my car I am going to have that song blasting for everyone to hear |

Posted - 07/22/2004 : 11:42:35 mine was 75, Morgan.
If you must co-opt the name Velouria (much as I did in the first place) please call her Velouria 2 or something. My Velouria would be very happy.

Posted - 07/21/2004 : 13:45:53 frequencyofglow, What year was your Dodge Dart? I have a Green 71 Dart. Maybe I should name mine Velouria.
myriadome, You named your kid Velouria Mars? That kicks ass!

Posted - 07/20/2004 : 23:20:05 I think I'm pretty dedicated... My daughter's name is Velouria. Velouria Mars to be exact.
I just hope she likes it when she's a teenager (2.5 now). I've been wondering about all the different names she might go by: Vel, Lou, Ria, Velour (great goth name), Louria. And then there's always Mars..
At least she seems to like the song. I sang it too her right after she was born. It's not my favorite song. There's no such thing when it comes to the Pixies, you can't just pick one, but it is one of my favorites. I love the name, mostly.
myriadome (Now don't you all go naming your daughters Velouria! I don't want her to have to endure another Velouria in her same class. You know, like the three Jennys we all know.)

My next car was named Broken Face.

Posted - 07/20/2004 : 13:05:54 one of the pixies 5 best songs, i think. people realize its great, so there really is no discussion/debate
the video is cheap though. they should not have even made one.

Posted - 07/19/2004 : 13:48:42 much to my chagrin, they have changed the lyrics to:
"we will wade in the tide of the ever, we will wade in the tide of the ever, we will wade in the tide of the summer."
"These waters run deep, it's clear my little one/Blue velvet star sky not a sound The light in your eyes, the smile on your ruby lips/Tells me my lost soul is found" |

Posted - 07/17/2004 : 16:15:30 It's probably my favorite Pixies song. It's "poppy," sure, but I don't consider that a bad thing. Doesn't that just mean it's catchy? I don't think it's "plastic" at all. It's probably the most awesome, full-sounding song the band ever did.
