I wish the Pixies jammed and/or improved more on stage. There's Vamos, the end of Debaser, sometimes the end of Gigantic, the bit in Cactus, end of Into the White but I wish there was more and longer bits where they'd extend songs.

That's it.

Well, there's a big difference between playing a 90-minute guitar solo, and playing a 90-minute guitar solo and keeping it interesting. The former requires a lot of stamina, but no skill or talent at all.

Perhaps the problem with the "official" jam bands is that they think it's enough that they're playing the really long guitar solos, and don't realize that there has to be more to it than that.

I find it hilarious that the only bands that are ever interesting when "jamming" are not the jam bands. Jamming is fun when you hear a good blues band, or an experimental band. Jam bands just bore me to tears, the hippies can keep that shitty music.

I'm not a fan of jamming, personally. I mean, I guess it can be okay at times, if it's interesting, but I'd rather hear several short songs than one long, drawn-out one.

Floop,

That's interesting, I'd never heard that. I think, around the time of Dog in the Sand that he mentioned Blast-Off as letting themselves jam. (okay, it's not the Pixies but still...)

From concert reviews it seems like Frank wants Joey to keep jamming during Vamos--I just wish they'd extend more songs.

Anyway...

I'd give Floop's left nut to be in the studio with the Pixies, just to watch them practise. I'd love to be a fly on the wall in their studio.

Hey Floop?

i remember reading an interview back in the day where Frank was saying they liked to stick to the albums. and prove they could do it.

he said he didn't like it when bands would change songs live, and "jam" or make some long, drawn out ending or whatever..

(i do like the slower ending of Nimrod's Son they do though)
