I know, eeeww.

EDIT: one of Frank's best vocal performances. When he says, "but i'll send you money, i'll send you lots of money so you can buy a ticket", you believe him. |

Posted - 09/30/2007 : 19:21:17 I've Been Waiting For You. It's an absolute classic. It's a B-Side that kills. |

Posted - 09/01/2007 : 16:23:08 I don't know what it is about Blown Away, but I always feel the studio version doesn't do justice to what a great song it is, so yeah, maybe it is the production.
I think it would be benefit if it were more stripped down, which is why I love the Dream Is Over version. Also the production of the vocals on the Bossanova version gives it a 'spacey' feel. I think if the vocals sounded more 'real' and 'intimate' it would be better. After all, it is a "love song".

Posted - 09/01/2007 : 15:34:40 Hi uriah! Yeah, I love Ana. Eerie surf....sounds like a James Bond theme a bit!
Oh yeah, and Blown Away is indeed beautiful. Maybe it's the production or something, but I think maybe it doesn't have the punch it could have had, though. As Black says on the Dream Is Over boot, "I take it that, eh....everybody hates this song!" Definitely under-rated.
"I hate how the reptile dreams it's a mammal. Scaley monster: be what you are!!" - Erebus. |

Posted - 09/01/2007 : 08:47:00 "Ana" from Bossanova is a very underrated song. Its a short song that on first listening to it you'd probably think its filler, but its actually a very beautiful, haunting song. |

Posted - 08/30/2007 : 15:02:41 I think Blown Away is underrated. It's quite a beautiful song actually.
And I'll go with Santo being underrated, great song for a B-side.

Posted - 08/30/2007 : 13:57:37 I think "Hang Wire" is a very underrated song, I just discovered it recently and havent stopped playing it since, I really think "Bossanova" as an album is criminally underrated, some of the best songs Black Francis has ever written are on that album! |

Posted - 08/22/2007 : 09:15:55 Trompe Le Monde is a lot better than how much credit it gets. Its got a taste of Frank Black's solo work...

Posted - 08/22/2007 : 01:29:08 Distance Equals Rate Times Time from Trompe. One of my fave tracks from that album, love the harmonies in the chorus (if you could call it a chorus). I've never seen this song mentioned on here. |

First, I'd like to apologize for disintering this topic but I think it's a good question.
I'm convinced "Trompe Le Monde" is the most underrated Pixies album, and further more, I think "The Sad Punk" (which is, in my opinion, the greatest Pixies song ever) is clearly their most underrated song.
Yet this song rocks like no other!
The Sad Punk is definitely the highlight of Live At The Paradise for me, but on the whole, I'd say Motorway To Roswell, because it's rightfully a favourite among Pixies fans, but still a song no casual listener gets to hear. |

Posted - 08/21/2007 : 16:22:34 Silver = pure underrated gold, erm silver. Most people hate it, for me its one of my favorites (Kim's gorgeous vocals, his even higher backing vocals, Joey's spooky guitar). Typifies for me everything I like about them - their sheer variety (c'mon the same band that did tame, TAAAAAMMMEEE!!!).
Agree about bossanova being the most underrated. Trompe seems to be the critic's fav after surfer rosa |

Posted - 07/08/2004 : 15:29:10 I don't know if it's the most underrated (I might also give that honor to "All Over The World"), but I don't hate "Tony's Theme," so I'd probably say it's underrated.

I dont know, this song just keeps picking up steam, its so good. My favorite on the album next to Alec Eiffel, which I dont if I can say is underrated, but it took me awhile then I just started to get into that song.
Motorway to Roswell - Awesome vocals, awesome guitar work, great chorus, with a great capper. I hear this song, and it makes me wish they would just keep going into a fifth full length lp. Like Joey says in "Gouge" they never went down, and these songs off tromp le monde prove it.
