Well we all know the pixies breaking up in the first place was mainly due to the artistic differences between charles thompson and kim deal. mainly he took creative control. and even with trompe me monde, she wasnt allowed to sing backing vocals. the pixies had effectively become frank black. she also wasnt allowed to write anymore. she wrote the song "gigantic" a great pixies song.
so they broke up. which was ok becasue the breeders and frank black led sucessful solo careers.
no they magically reunite and their first new song she sings lead vocals, with black francis on backing vocals. this is a great sign. the pixies didnt sound nearly as good without mrs deal. she complimented black francis perfectly.
its so good to see them getting along...i guess

I just about cried when I read there was a new Pixies song. My heros have officially returned!! Could this lead to a new album, they've already got the ball rolling with a new song. Many more could follow. And they're going to play it in their Fall tour. Which means I get to hear it at Lollapalooza!! I might cry again.

rather simplifying it i believe.  by all accounts kim wrote gigantic *with* frank...
