Posted - 05/24/2004 : 11:55:25 I have been saying for ages that someone should write a book about the Pixies.

Posted - 05/21/2004 : 12:30:46 Yes It's a book that was printed in Spain.Vilainde got all the details right.I bought my copy in Barcelona in 1998,my friends from Alec Eiffel told me about it beforehand.I think there's only minor spelling mistakes in the Spanish version at least.Like "Ford Apache" instead of Fort Apache, and mentioning the intended first name for Doolitle as "Whale" instead of "Whore" which I believe was the intended name for the album. It has many great photos including some of the Pixies Live in Barcelona and one of a press conference over there,Vilainde can you scan those? |

Posted - 05/21/2004 : 00:59:56 Like Dean said. I'm at home right now so I can have a look at the book. It's a spanish book actually, translated into French. It's 64 pages long, and inside you get: a 30-pages biography of the Pixies, with a lot of pics and some quotes from interviews given to Spanish & French mags; 10 pages on FB solo (until 1995); 13 pages on the Breeders and the Amps (until Pacer); a commented discography; and then 6 pages of lyrics. The last part is the worst: they give the lyrics of about 20 songs (nothing from SR and COP as the booklets didn't include the lyrics) and then translate them into French, apparently using some crappy translation software. The result is funny as hell (especially Dead and U-Mass). Oh, and the book included a small poster too (band pic from the TLM era). All in all it's OK if you're a completist. I'll read it again to see if what they say is accurate.

Posted - 05/20/2004 : 22:02:07 I remember hearing some not-so-positive comments among our French members, but I have no first hand experience with said book. No translations, as Steve said.
