i think it's very fitting that Frank is interviewed (for most of it) while driving. it's kind of poetic, in a conscious or unconscious way. it's such a big part of his art and his personality.

also, does anyone have any idea where they shot that hike part of the interview? i'd say Leo Carillo is a safe bet. since Frank said he used to hike there.. and it looks like it's got to be in the Santa Monica mountains. but, it might not be.

also a cool interview location.

anyway, i just got it over the weekend. not bad for 13 bucks. my only complaint is that they should have re-edited the GOUGE documentary to not include footage from the live set that's already included. i would have rather seen other footage, or even more interview stuff.

small complaint though .. i think they did a great job and it's such a treat for fans. that UK show is fucking top notch..

i agree, i've been tired absolutley floored me. and i knew frank black looks a lot different now, but its hilarious just to see him as kid though, i mean how old was he then, 23? but frank comes across as pretty modest in the doc, i love how everyone is going nuts about them, and then frank is like "yeah, i mean, i guess we had certain things that worked for us." I would have liked to have seen a little more discussion at the end about the breakup and where everyone went after the breakup, which is never really fully explained in the documentary.

i think "I've Been Tired" is almost the most rockin' song in the set, unexpectedly.

I think it was really funny when he almost knocked over the mic on "In Heaven"

I apologize for my earlier post. Makes me gag, now that I'm somewhat coherent.

But the intent was sincere, and the sentiment was accurate.

I was awestruck with the "In Heaven" performance. In my imagination Black Francis was always practically bursting at the seams, his neck sinews bulging, and a valsalvas-looking grimace dominating his glistening face.

Instead he's twirling his guitar like a baton, and looking almost like a skilled venriloquist, effortlessly "throwing" his non-chalant psychosis into a disinterested microphone.

CMKTIV was indeed blessed with some gilded pipes. Wow.
