Posted - 05/11/2004 : 06:33:10 Today's random song of the day is I'm Amazed.
What do you think of it?
lyrics The day before that I was wed She went upstairs and she cut her hair (away)
I'm amazed
And when I was a little boy A ball of string my favorite toy
I'm amazed
Before I died, I took my Honda And packed it up up up to Arizona
I'm amazed
I am amazed

Posted - 05/16/2004 : 02:16:09 noooooo the lyrics on both versions are the same "before i died, i took my mona, and packed it up up up to arizona, im amazed" you can hear this on surfer rosa, purple tape and even a live solo acoustic b.f recording from 1990 on here.. (whatever concert that was) This has been argued sooo many times, but im positive thats what he says. |

Posted - 05/13/2004 : 17:00:36 I just listened to this a few minutes ago. The first verse is:
"The day before, that I was wed, She went upstairs, and shot her head."
Frank sings it with these lyrics on every version I've heard. Although, the versions of the last verse differ:
On the "Purple Tape", Frank sings:
"Before I die, I took my Mona..."
While on "Surfer Rosa", he sings:
"Before I die, I took my Honda..."

Posted - 05/12/2004 : 17:14:25 Great song. I love how Frank sings the lyrics at regular pace, and Kim sings them a bit slower in the background, but at the end of the verse, they sort of catch up with each other. Best parts of the song: Joey's solo; it just cuts through and grabs you, and David's drumming sounds like a herd of wild buffalo. And the last verse is awesome!

Posted - 05/12/2004 : 09:45:53 Surfer Rosa version lyrics:
Before I died, I took my Honda And cranked it up up up, too bad it don't have brakes
Always thought that was a great verse. |

Posted - 05/11/2004 : 12:33:07 The song is very cool overall, but Kim Deal's backing vocals are what I like the most. |

Posted - 05/11/2004 : 11:03:06 Love that song. I have a version where Charles and just an acoustic guitar sings it all by himself (not a live version, but one with better quality) and that is just great. I don't like that the SR version doesn't include the "we all mend all..." part. |

Posted - 05/11/2004 : 08:42:59 regarding the mona/honda discussion, i recently received in the mail the awesome 14.04.88 Melkweg Amsterdam show and the vocals are very high in the mix, and he definitely sings MONA.
but regarding the song - it's fucking awesome. and i think steve albini did a good job in cutting out the second verse from the record.
