In my recent non-stop playing of the Pixies, mainly the live CD from Winnipeg, something funny happened.
I was walking by my 3-year old daughters room, and heard her singing: "I've got a broken face, uh-huh, uh-huh, I've got a broken face".
I never laughed so hard. I guess I have to be careful about what songs she hears now, I didn't think she paid attention to them.
A new generation of Pixies fans...

Man, I can't wait to have kids. They are really great.

You mommies and daddies should be ok letting your kids listen to the Pixies, unless you hear...

"Mommy, am I the son of incestuous union?"

I play Pixies and sing for the family all the time whne we're driving about. Now when I tickle my 5 year old and tell him I'm gonna get his Jelly Belly, he says, "like Jellyroll, like... Sculp-SCHA!". Cracks me up.

haha, the other song my daughter always requests is "laid" by James, that CD is going to remain scratched until she's way older, wink wink.

Why is 'monosyllabic' such a long word?

Well, see, I intend to raise them in such a way that they will like the Pixies in front of my face at least, then if they can't stand them, at least I won't know about it.

Heh, yeah, Bossanova or Teenager of the Year should be a safe ones for the most part.

Truly precious - and they have memories like elephants.
After my friend came over a couple years ago with the two Gorillaz videos, my son became absolutley fixated.
a few months later, his mother bought him the CD one day in a record store...he got a CD player for xmas and the album went into full rotation for him.
Then he starts quoting Gorillaz tunes to the kids at his Montessori school.
I'm talking to one of the parents one day - really cool, liberal, open minded english professor.
She says, "I think Ian has been teaching Henry songs."
Amused, I ask "Oh yeah? Whats he saying?"
She says, quoting her son, quoting my son, quoting Gorillaz, "Ain't happy...feeling glad I got sunshine..in a bag.." and she, in a nudge-nudge, wink-wink sort of way says "bag...BAGGIE..."
Implying her son was learning some sort of veiled drug reference from my son.

I managed to explain it to her...and to eventually pry the CD (which does actually have some profanity in some of the raps...) away from my son...that was months ago. He asked about the CD last night...I'm dragging my feet on finding it.

Yes, kids are precious...and SCARY sometimes!!!

I spend alot of time listening to Bossanova with my 6 yrd old son.

Recently, he started singing
"It is time...it is time, whoa...it is time for SOGGY RAGWORLD!!"

I say "Ian, its 'Stormy weather' that he says there..."

Ian says,
"I know daddy, but I want to say SOGGY RAGWORLD. I like it better that way."

Well, OK - whatever floats your bananna!

My son.

.Cal and Shine your stories are so awesome!!! I was just mentioning to my husband that it would be so cute that if/when we have/adopt kids that would like one tot with green hair, one with red hair and another with blue hair all dancing around and singing the Pixies. He wasn't keen on the hair idea but your stories give me hope . I just am hoping they don't pick up on that cheezy Brittany Spears type suff to "rebel".

I was playing a mixed tape I have recently when my 10 year-old said "put that song on that you have as your ringtone" (Here comes your man). I was proud =)
