Posted - 04/22/2004 : 10:37:10 Joey played 'Purple Haze' over 'Into the White' in, I think, Regina. Since I want to be like Joey always, I started learning it after hearing that and for fun I posted what I have so far for a friend but you're also welcome to hear it.

(btw using a prog like Flashget will download the file(s) very quickly.)

Posted - 04/22/2004 : 10:50:51 When I met Joey here in Sacramento at Old Irosides (Martinis show) Hendrix was on the Juke Box (In fact, I think might have been the one to play it on the Juke). I told him that he (Joey) was an incredible influence on me for guitar and he as he pointed toward the speaker on the ceiling he said something to the effect of "He's my influence." Actually, looking back on that conversation, that was pretty damn cool.
He autographed my Trompe Le Monde disc too. He first asked "Do you know what those are on the cover?" "Cow eyes?" I asked.
"Bull's Eyes," he said. That kind of made me think for a moment that there was something more to the Trompe cover. So, anyway, He didn't want to ruin the cover art so he autographed the inside. He drew an eyeball and wrote "Bulls Eye. Joey S." |
