Posted - 03/24/2004 : 16:42:27 I can't imagine seeing the Pixies w/out their makeup. I mean, come on, what would be the point.
A Pixies show with out make up and pyro would be like seeing The Lord of the Dance without, well, without the dance.
And I expect at least 7 costume changes per show. |

Posted - 03/24/2004 : 16:17:34 I would love to see the Pixies stay together. I guess it all depends on how they get along now that they have grown up a bit. The scene of popular music today could use an infusion of actual creativity and talent -- my personal opinion is that most music pushed by the big record companies today is shit.
...as Frank said (and I found on this very website: "My records are unsuccessful because peoples' tastes are lame. I'm not saying my music is caviar for the brain, but I can't help think my stuff is better than a lot of crap out there."

Yes, Kiss did it. But the real question is this: will the reunited Pixies wear their makeup?

Posted - 03/22/2004 : 12:48:45 remember.....there are 10-12 years worth of new pixies fans who have never had the privilege of seeing them "live". i've seen frank four times and the breeders twice, if the pixies can bring a gig with half the heart of any of those 6 shows i will be hoping they stay together for a long time, while continuing their "individual" efforts. i remember listening to the radio when they announced black francis was dissolving the pixies and i instantly regretted not seeing them when they opened for u2, i wanted to wait until they came to a smaller venue. oops! can't wait 'til april 17th!

Posted - 03/22/2004 : 09:16:18 I for some reason don't think this is permanent...it's maybe like a once-every-five-years kind of a tour.

i hope that we all have at least one other reason to live besides, the Pixies staying together, but if they can save just one life... then it will be all worth it.
that and getting to see them live, multiple times.

Posted - 03/21/2004 : 21:56:33 I want to see them live and see if I want them to stay together, its pointless just staying together for the kids so to speak, lets see if the magic is still there first.

Posted - 03/21/2004 : 08:38:06 Why not? Other people are in more than one band at a time. Early indications are the tour will be a big success, so if they enjoy it they should stay together. They don't have to tour every year. That would give Frank time with the Catholics, Kim time with the Breeders, and so on. |

Posted - 03/21/2004 : 05:28:34 Well, that would be very nice. Since the Pixies are my all time favorite band that would be very, very nice. I would still like to see them all pursuing their other musical endeavours in addition to that, though. The Pixies are the best in my eyes, but as many people on this forum would agree, Frank Black and the Catholics and the Breeders have done some fine ass work. And Joey and David haven't ceased to amaze either. I think I can safely say that the more music all of the above continue to pump out, the happier most of us will be. There are those who are adamant in the thought that the Pixies should only exist in the past, and I can respect that opinion. Some think that Frank Black and the Catholics kick the Pixies ass upside-down, inside-out and across. I can respect that as well. Some think that Frank should only be making music with the Catholics and everything else is he would try, reunion, Two Pale Boys, etc., is a horrible mistake. To that I say RUBBISH! Let them all make music. Nothing's tarnished. There's just more to choose from. And what if a new Pixies album takes away from the Catholics recording a new album sooner? It's worth the wait. So wait a little. I don't know if that's really a solid reply to your post, S.I.X.. It's a bit more of a rant. "Everybody needs a reason to live"? Hell, owning a copy of Doolittle alone is reason enough. Doolittle existing is not only reason to live. It's a reason to celebrate. Pixies reunited with no specific end in sight? That's reason to celebrate with reckless abandon. Over and over and over again.
