Posted - 03/07/2004 : 10:01:51 Oh well, might as well jump on this bandwagon, 'cause 4th May IS my birthday!
Apparently it's Luke Skywalker's birthday as well. May the Fourth be with you.
Sorry.

I felt really bad that day because A: really bad things happened, and B: when Mink Car's release date was pushed back to September 11th, I was really excited and was counting down the days. I would go around to my friends saying that Sept. 11th was coming soon, and only a few more days til Sept. 11th, etc. Even though there was no way I could have foreseen anything that day, I still feel crappy about looking forward to it so much. And then when I got the album, about an hour after I heard the news, I felt terribly guilty for trying to enjoy it. If you watch their DVD Gigantic you'll see them doing an in store performance pushing the album around midnight, the night before on Sept. 10th, in downtown NY. Creepy.

I suppose I should make a news release of this. While I do that, there are a whole bunch of new Pixies pictures just added to the Pixies' gallery on 4ad.com that are worth checking out. My personal fave:
Go take a look at their store and check out the rest.

Is the bottom of the picture cut on the 4AD site also?
Here is the bottom part of that picture from a news paper article I have saved from back in '88.

Posted - 03/05/2004 : 09:08:23 Hmmmm, FB wearing a hat??? Some of the other pics are cool too. I wonder if they had a gig at Pixie's bar? As for the art for the new releases, I hope it was done for free, those covers look pretty unremarkable.

Posted - 03/05/2004 : 07:14:04 I thought they preformed 'Dead' at the Town And Country gig....the live footage-all taken from the T+C show, I thought-in the 'Gouge' doc shows them playing it, dos'nt it? I actually thought the DVD would be out sooner, but I'm not complaining....we await with breath baited!
By the way, I realise this show was recorded before Doolittle's release, but I thought it might be an early version of 'Dead', but I could be getting mixed up here!!

[b]Thursday, March, 4th, 2004[b] Pixies DVD finally hitting shelves, Fall North American tour in the works
4AD/Beggars Group has set a May 4 release date for the Pixies retrospective "Wave of Mutilation" and a self-titled DVD. The 23-track "Mutilation" is intended as a replacement for the 1997 best-of "Death to the Pixies," which is now out of print. The set will feature such favorites as "Here Comes Your Man," "Dig for Fire" and "Gigantic" alongside a remix of "Debaser." The DVD sports a host of music videos, a 1988 concert from London and the documentary "Gouge." The Pixies are gearing up for their first major tour since 1992, which will kick off April 14 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. According to a source, the group is still deciding its plans for after the close of a 20-plus date European run, which will end in mid-July. An extensive North American tour is taking shape for the fall.
I wonder if they share the same source.. :P
