Posted - 03/03/2004 : 23:42:51 That kitty above (from the cover of show me your tears) is a chinese lucky cat inviting friends and customers with the left hand, money if the right is waving. Its white for purity. It is also a lucky charm for money. I saw one like it in an antique shop today and so I checked into what it was. If the left paw is up, it invites customers or people. If the right paw is up, it invites fortune. If you see a black one, it is supposedly a talisman against evil. |

Posted - 03/05/2004 : 12:22:19 I seen two cats identical to the SMYT ones in my local chinese take away...hmm that lucky charm stuff explains why they had no idea who frank black was! |

Posted - 03/04/2004 : 21:53:11 Sorry the link isn't working out, search for maneki nekos. I really like those cats! Prozacrat has a nice cat, too. Looks like my mom's dog. How would you explain that Breeders cover? Innocent unfinished papier mache project? Desperate plea for money?

Posted - 03/04/2004 : 14:21:33 I own too little figures of these cats, Maneki Nekos, or somehting to that effect. Mine are more realistic looking though than the one on SMYT. They do make them with the left or right hand waving, as DeBased mentions. The left paw raised brings customers and happines and the right paw raised brings money and good fortune. I have neven read that the colors stand for certain things as well. |

Posted - 03/04/2004 : 11:48:53 I'd like to put a picture of a cat in a similar pose that I took last night, incidentally. But I can't figure out how to insert a picture. I see the little "Insert Picture thingy above, but then what? Do I need to insert an html link?
