Hey everyone-

I am a huge Cure fan, and the most recent rumors about their US summer tour now involve the Pixies. This comes from a Cure fan website that has strong ties to the band members and gets "news" from them as well. The Cure's tour is supposed to start in July and go through August and will play mostly outdoor amphitheatres.

I know everyone's gonna complain and say "I don't want to see the Pixies open up for anyone." I understand, but if they have to play with someone this summer, I can't think of a better band than the Cure. I missed out on the '89 tour but saw them open up for U2 in 1992. The Cure/Pixies would be a dream bill and I cross my fingers. Also let's hope for the small US club tour first.

I didn't see that show, unfortunately, so I can't really have an opinion about it. Of course the Pixies opened up for U2 back in 1992, but that doesn't mean I would want to see these bands tour together again...

>>Personally, I think the two styles are so different it wouldn't work.

It worked back in '89, when the Pixies opened for the Cure.

As a fan of both the Pixies (my favorite band) and the Cure (my favorite band when I'm depressed) I have to wonder about this possible bill. The old joke has always been that at the end of Cure concerts they hand out razor blades so everyone can kill themselves. Personally, I think the two styles are so different it wouldn't work. After the Pixies, the Cure would make me want to take a nap, or die.

Those look like cool rumors to me! The Cure with the Pixies! Perfect. Reformed Smiths? Alright!

the method...of stop tap spin, no talkin'...

I'd rather see them open for Radiohead if they had to open for anyone.

Seventeen Seconds is very very good.... the album is consistently brilliant, as is most of the albums (up until Wish..... the albums after that are very patchy, but still have moments of brilliance). I'd love to see Pixies tour with The Cure, as they are a great band.... Ive been a huge fan for years and reckon that Robert Smith is one of the greatest ever songwriters.

Who's the man that won't cop out when there's danger all about?

Mroocore kinda summed it up for me, but the show wouldn't be complete if MechaStreisand didn't make an appearance!! =P

"17 Seconds" is a great album. I prefer "Pornography" much more, but 17 Seconds is still good.

The cure is kinda cool
I've been longing to buy seventeen seconds, because I love A forest. Is the rest of that record as strong as my favourite cure track?

the only way i would enjoy THE PIXIES opening for THE CURE is if Robert Smith morphed into ROB MOTHERA, and opened w/ a duet of http://images.southparkstudios.com/media/sounds/112/MEGAPOITIER.wav w/ MEGA POITIER. after which they would destroy the stage and the rest of the band, save simon because he rides sweet bikes. allowing THE PIXIES to climb the rubble and play TLM soup to nuts.

The Cure's recent output (last couple of albums) has been pretty dire, but it would be a cool bill. Only thing is that I remember FB in an old interview saying how the Pixies had to play with only half of the PA turned on so that the Cure would sound a lot bigger in comparison... which kinda sucks.
