I think most of the new material is fine and fits seamlessly into the repertoire, but there's so much solo stuff that, in my imagination, I can easily see adopted by Pixies 2014. These songs deserve a wider audience obviously. I doubt Mr Francis would agree as, to him, Pixies is Pixies and solo is something entirely different. But anyway, these would be some of my choices (off the top of my head).

Western Star
Los Angeles
Captain Pasty
Do You Feel Glad About It
Robert Onion
Lake Of Sin
Ten Percenter
Two Reelers
Bad Wicked World
Nadine
(Do What You Want)Gyaneshwar
Man Of Steel
Men In Black

Well, they'd work wouldn't they?

Do you think that if this managed to happen somehow, that if all FB cultists kept quiet about these songs being from solo material and if the songs were given different names, would the hipster media/society even notice? That would truly be trompe le monde!

That's right. Take away the Nashville production, speed it up a little, play it in a higher key and BAM:
Pixies classic.

Trust me on this

Oh, I'd love to hear that and everything else that's been suggested. All these songs would be new to most people and wouldn't jar if 'Pixiefied'. I know it'll never happen.

cool chords. i completely avoided this album because i heard it was awful (?), but i'm listening on youtube and it's very clearly not awful. my impression was that Frank stripped away what made his songwriting interesting for these sessions, but i don't even hear an iota of evidence for that weird perception.

Trust the Pixies to go and tarnish the Catholics legacy, tsk.

I hope he doesn't do it, and he already said he wouldn't, but if I had to pick one, it would be You're Gonna Pay. I can't quite see it with Joey's guitar all over it, but the sheer fun FB is obviously having, while screaming his lungs out, sounding menacing but still tongue in cheek, it's one that I immediately associate with Pixies material.

The Black Rider (Id go for the creepy Tom Waits original version with Paz on violin, rather than the FBC's rocking version)

Speedy Marie (slow version with Paz on violin, Joey surf guitar)

Robert Onion (Joey already plays on this, first time I heard Snakes I thought of Robert Onion)

Garbage Heap (sounds very Pixies)

Re/Make Re/Model (Joey could go nuts on this)

Threshold Apprehension (Is like Re/Make Re/Model part 2)

Manitoba (Daves military drums could make this another Andro Queen)

Wild Honey Pie (although not a FB song I liked the version on Pixies at BBC, a full bodied studio version would be cool)

The Modern Age (considering this was written by BF/Joey this could in theory be a pixies song)

Velvety (Pixies reclaim it but may as well keep the vocals, add in some female backing vox for good measure)

All Around the World (The live rocking BF version from Nijmegen is superb, Pixies have already done the folk version at Newport acoustic, the rocking version could work with Pixies)

Every Time I Go Around Here (with Paz violin)

Ever since Svn Fngrs came out I've thought Garbage Heap would be an excellent Pixies track.

I always thought Deadman's Curve was meant for the Pixies. Joey could wail all over that track.

I'll bet a buck it will actually happen, because it would be punk.

I see bf/fb as two different songwriters/performers. Would be kind of ankward if the pixies were performing FB songs... And the audience wouldn't like it either. And it would be a bit unfair to "bait" Pixies fans and then play music from side projects onstage. If it were up to me, i'd like them to play Pong, Los Angeles, Thallasocracy, the early ones...

Mr. Black Francis has already posted here he'd never do it, so unfortunately this remains hypothetical.

It seems to me that a Pixies song could be defined as a Black Francis song that has (a) not been rejected by Joey and (b) has Joey's guitar magic all over it. So you'd have to ask Joey. But personally I think most FB, FB&C and BF work would qualify.

I think "His Kingly Cave" from Devil's Workshop would fit today's mature Pixies particularly well. It's already got Joey on lead guitar. http://youtu.be/IrfsqPpCyVE

I would also really love to hear what the Pixies would make of "Bullet" and "Robert Onion".
