Posted - 07/01/2013 : 17:49:01 Okay, call me a greedy motherfucker, but I would love to hear a lot of Frank's solo catalog get a Pixies treatment on tour. The first 3 and Blue and Svn Fngrs in particular, I think, would fit in, but bring it all on as far as I am concerned.
I mean I would love for the Catholics to do a tour and all, but I just don't think that will be happening anytime soon. I want to hear those songs as much as the rest of his stuff. Or better yet, I want to hear it along with the rest of it.

Posted - 07/04/2013 : 06:31:02 Okay, now for greedy, greedy, greedy stuff. After this tour, which really should be about the whole Pixies catalog, they do a follow up tour adding EDF and Lyle Workman to the line-up. This gives them the 3 guitar dimension of some of the Catholics, and I am sure they can make that work with a good amount of Pixies.
Of course, they might have to change their name to SuperPixies. And they should definitely open up with Los Angeles. |

I know they've played Setting Forth but what other E.V. songs have they played? Did you know Frank Black and the Catholics opened for them back in 98?
Between new songs, the classics and never played ones, I doubt we'll get any solo FB tunes but it would be great.
Opening with Los Angeles...nice one, Mickey. [/quote]
FB solo opened for them in 94 or 95 too. I think they played "Guaranteed". Also, EV released his cover of "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away" but PJ play it too.

Well, the man himself mentioned elsewhere that he has been considering a TOTY tour with Lyle and the lads.. Hopefully it happens.
that would be so fuckin rad
not to take away from current excitement. but I'd be stoked on a TOTY tour
You're living in the past
jk. I remember when they played Freedom Rock in 2007 with the Bluefinger "power trio". I almost died.

Damn, that would have made me cry. One of the few tours I have missed over the past few years was that line-up. Damn. |

Posted - 07/03/2013 : 00:03:48 It'd be cool to see Charles ignore his back catalog altogether. Like a Pixies Play Kurt Weill record or something. Their distinctive esthetic lends itself to reinterpretation of classics. But they'd have to go all out as Charles did with Herman Brood. It worked brilliantly for one of their close contemporaries.

Posted - 07/02/2013 : 05:12:50 A TOTY tour would be fantastic, but would be at least a few years away.
Anyhow, this is a total pipe dream on my part and am a truly satisfied with new Pixies and, I am assuming,a new US tour.
Satisfied for the moment, anyhow. |

Posted - 07/01/2013 : 19:44:39 How ballsy would it be if they opened the first show with "Los Angeles"? I'm sure that won't happen, but that would be pretty amazing.
The one drawback to this amazing turn of events is that I assume Pixies may become Frank's full time band from now on (and I mean, why not?), which means we'll probably lose hearing twenty years worth of amazing material performed by a live band, as has been mentioned above.

Posted - 07/01/2013 : 18:45:29 Now that this is really (the) happening, I fully understand your greed. I'd like to see them go all out now; just go for it with new songs, new albums. No disrespect for Kim but since they're doing it, since Bag Boy appeared, I feel like they should take this as far as they can.
Yeah, I'd love it if they pulled out some Frank and/or Catholics songs; at the same time there's a lot of Pixies songs that haven't ever been played or not since 92 that deserve to be performed. Picture Theme From Narc, Make Believe, Tony's Theme (I did catch him mentioning it) Motorway!
I'd be surprised if they did pull out anything but Pixies songs and a cover song here or there but it would be great to hear them perform Bullet.
Anyway, moonruler...interesting post. |

No pressure CT!
Okay, you're greedier than I am.
Although EDF is more than welcome to join the tour. And I would love to see Lyle live again. Saw the tour right when TOTY came out. Did not know the songs, but loved every minute of it.
I just don't want all of those songs to not get a full band treatment ever again. It kind of seems like that is their fate.
Oh well, regardless, loving the new Pixies. Can't wait for more. I am greedy. I hope everyone ends up happy, too!! |
