Pixies drop in to the International Bar
28 Sep 2009
Card tricks and bon mots with Ardal O'Hanlon ensued!
Hot Press handily happened to have a man in the audience last night when Black Francis, Joey Santiago and David Lovering from the Pixies dropped in to the International Comedy Club in Wicklow Street.
Although declining compere Des Bishop’s invitation to play a couple of tunes, drummer Lovering took to the stage with a selection of magic tricks including one where he asked a member of the audience to think of a card, and then produced said card from his bottom!
Afterwards, Black Francis got to tell Ardal O’Hanlon, who was also on the bill, what a huge Father Ted fan he is.
Among the other familiar faces spotted in the crowd were former Irish rugby international Dennis Hickie, TV presenter Baz Ashmawy and assorted members of The Thrills.
In case it had escaped your notice, the Pixies are playing three nights in the Dublin Olympia starting September 30.
