I had an awesome idea for a new recording/ album that the pixies could do

I was inspired by a King's of Leon song, beleive it or not I might edit that to read .... oh I don't know, anyway it made me realise how many bands have been influences by the Pixies, some more thatn others, some less than otheres.

Everyone is releasing the brilliant in their sounds, and reflecting it in their own each and every way.

It's like the reverse of a tribute album, instead of loads of bands covering a great band, like the cure say, what if a great band, like the pixies, made an album covering songs that were made by bands who were influenced by them?

How about Rush 2112 or Eno Here Come the Warm Jets. It should definitely be something unexpected and I like the idea of them covering a whole album. Original material would be prefered, though.

It they were to do a cover album, it should have an extremely bizarre twist. I would like to see them cover Gustav Holst's seven-movement classical suite THE PLANETS. They could pare the movements down musically into Pixie song-format, and Black could write lyrics for each heavenly body.

I don't know about only covering bands they influenced, but a covers album would be a good way to do something new without messing with the canon.

To be fair, Bob Mould's been quite open about 'A Good Idea' being a tribute, of sorts, to the Pixies.

That Sugar album is great!

Yeah I know that. I wasn't trying to knock BM. I thought it was a good interpretation or art/imitation.

I think it's on the old Alec Eiffel site where there's an interview with the two of them, isn't it?

But I agree with Sam, after this only- only new songs will cut it , and the songs should be fucking mind blowing

I see what you mean, like when Johnny Cash covered Nick Cave.

Kings of Leon are kind of crappy, yes, but they have one of the best Pixies rip-offs I've ever heard: Charmer

Yeah I wasn't necessarily suggesting they cover them, maybe Les Savy Fav and that.

But I don't we are gonna get any new material TBH, I think this is a good idea.

Nooooo, its been 20 years since the last record Pot. We need new material. Covers is not going to cut it.

Especially not a Kings of Leon cover. My God, how awful would that be. Black Fracis screaming sex is on fire. That really would be the day the music died.
