Which of these albums does everyone think is more important in influencing alternative music "Surfer Rosa" or "Daydream Nation" or are they both of equal importance.

It's one of those "it's impossible to compare them" type questions that everyone just loves to ponder.

I think mr. b has got it about right though, it just depends on who you ask. I suppose there is no way to measure influence and if a way was found, well, that would just take all the fun away!

Hmmm. Well, seeing as WIMM? has been covered by a million artists, I'd say probably Surfer. But Daydream certainly struck a chord too!

Personally I never got into Daydream Nation, from my ear it was one of their average albums. It's one of those bands where some of their songs hook me, where others, I'd just skip, just like some of their albums. Every song on Surfer Rosa had an influence on me. That is just me though.

It's almost impossible to answer. A style of music doesn't draw "more" from one thing than another. Like, Nirvana may have been more influenced by Surfer Rosa, while whatever other band was more influenced by Daydream Nation, or Raw Power, or whatever.

So I guess, maybe equal importance?

Rosa's a bazillion times better.

very weird question. Depends on what you think is the most appealing aspect of alternative music.
