Since the Discopedia is woefully lacking when it comes to Pixies vinyl releases, I figure I might ask a couple of questions here.

First of all, does the US release of Bossanova come with a lyric/picture book like the UK release?

Do any of the Doolittle vinyl releases come with booklets, or is it just the inner sleeve with lyrics on it.

I have the US release of Surfer Rosa, but the inner sleeve says "Printed in England" (those might not be the exact words). Is this true with all US releases, or is it possible that some moron just put the UK inner sleeve in there thinking that no one would know the difference?

For whomever it may concern, the Discopedia is missing the US releases of Doolittle and Bossanova, both of which most assuredly exist. The Doolittle catalog number for the US release is 4AD 60856-1. I'm not sure about Bossanova. The Discopedia is also missing the regular UK release of Trompe. It just mentions some limited edition blue vinyl thing. The catalogue number for the regular UK release is 4AD CAD-1014. It may be missing more, I'm not sure.

Wasn't there a 'She's My Way' on the Christmass album? Could this also be a redo for his solo stuff as he's done in the past.

Not sure if I should trust this.
I've heard of some limited edition 180g coloured vinyl re-releases before that actually sounded quite bad. But it was by another label.

That's not new to vinyl, is it?
Any idea who is re-releasing this on coloured vinyl? Is it the same record company that released it the first time?

Wow! I'm sure the Aussies are feeling 'blue' about a lack of Pixies live action, but I'm 'green' with envy of that release!

Yes, I definitely agree. We could have pictures of the record labels, too. Then, we could organize it like the GBVDB.

How 'bout this Australian Trompe on blue vinyl?

"She's My Way" I know it doesn't really sound like a Pixies title but mark my words, ye of little faith. I don't know if it will end up on a new Pixies album, but I know for sure it exists in demo form now.

By the way, I know this doesn't belong in this thread, but I wasn't sure if it merited it's own.

As far as I know, they're all the same except for what I mentioned on Trompe, and of course Surfer Rosa, which has the lyrics to "Oh My Golly" on the bottom. I have both albums, but my scanner's not big enough and my digital camera is acting up. I'll see if I can get it to work to take a picture of the cover. I was thinking it would be nice to have scans of the inner sleeves as well. I can photograph what I have, and maybe if someone else has a big enough scanner, he/she could scan some of these.

I just realized you're completely missing (on both CD and LP) the self-titled album with the unreleased songs from the Purple Tape that was released in 2002 on SpinART. I'll go see if I can dig up the catalog info real quick.
Cult_Of_Frank Posted - 09/29/2006 : 09:23:21
Does the cover art for these match the cd? If they have their own, is there a way you could scan it in?

Trompe Le Monde (UK) - 4AD CAD-1014 - Release date: ??? - Contains inner sleeve with graphics and lyrics. Cover art is the same as CD release, except there is a white border around the front.
Pixies (US) - SpinART SPART 109 - (LP) - release date: ??/??/2002 (or is it 2003?) - Plain white paper inner sleeve

i have a Greek pressing of Doolittle that has a booklet as far as i remember. it's in a frame now, signed by Frank, so i'd have to take it apart to verify.

i have some dope, rare Pixies vinyl too. i looked at my old thread about that but the pictures are all offline. maybe i'll take some more. they are my most prized possessions

I have a US vinyl copy of Bossanova which I bought the week it was released. There is no booklet, only a color inner sleeve. The photo on one side looks like dirt with five concentric red circles and something blurry in the foreground (possibly a figurine with a blue cowboy hat and holding a white gun?). The other side is white with 20 circles, which appear to be pictures of the same mole that appears in the upper right photo on the front of the outer sleeve. The spine of this album reads: 4AD/Elektra 9 60963-1 Pixies Bossanova

My Doolittle is Elektra US and has an inner sleeve as you describe.

My copy of Surfer Rosa is also as you describe. The inner sleeve reads "Printed in England" but I suspect someone in the US art department just neglected to remove it from the UK art.

I'm looking right now at my "Death to the Pixies" on vinyl 12" LP. Released a good 10 years before "Death to the Pixies" CD. I also have (somewhere) a 12" Pixies interview-picture disc.
NimrodsSon Posted - 09/28/2006 : 13:41:28
Well, there are the ones mentioned above, and in Frank Black land you're missing the vinyl release of Pistolero (SpinArt SPART 70)
