I didn't know they were also on another bootleg like someone else has suggested, might be worth tracking down if the sound quality is better.

the demo's are on Give Me Ecstacy - GME is one of the "original" pixies boots alonmg with Rough Diamonds.
I don't know if these on Purple Tape 2 are just ripped straight off GME - but they suffer the same trebly sound.
but not having heard them on your version i don't know. but i'd assume they just ripped 'em straight off GME.

I have a copy of it and really like it, however the sound quality can be sketchy. About half of the tracks are from b-sides or one offs like rubayat/i'm your fan.

My copy (with someone's tongue pushed up against wire mesh on the cover) claims to be 'officially licenced through cooking vinyl' and was made in Brazil. Somehow I doubt that it is 'official'.

Totally recommended for the demo versions of Doolittle.

this was recently uploaded to dimeadozen but was banned due to the official content - they took out several of the tracks, but not all.

the demos are taken from Give Me Ecstacy boot.
hang on to your ego is taken from Rough Diamonds boot, and from what i've read (somewhere), i don't think it is a full pixies recording...it's backed by a drum machine for one....can't remember where i read that it wasn't a "pixies" recording...
tho apparently a full pixies version of it does exist.....somewhere.

it was all over japan when the real purple tape was released. if i remember correctly, it was released on a mexican label and was clearly a bootleg and the inlay was the greatest quality. i have that copy of hang onto your ego from slsk.

I would guess this is cdr made up of various bootleg stuff.

I Cant Forget appeared on a Leonard Cohen tribute album from 91, born in Chicago was a similar thing. Some of the stuff would seem to come from the Doolittle Demo bootleg, Hang on to your Ego has been kicking around on various bootlegs, and the three session tracks were on one of the UK Debaser CD singles released in 97 (around the time of the Death to the Pixies compilation. The Planet of Sound & Tame live tracks were B-Sides on the Alec Eiffel single (and maybe some others).

And now Im gonna sing the Perry Mason theme....
