Posted - 06/10/2006 : 15:07:52 Holy shit I'm lazy. I finally got off my ass and put up tons of new stuff that I've had sitting around for ever. The night music stuff I got almost a year ago and just finally got around to it. I don't know the dates and names for tonnes of them. If anybody knows please let me know. Here's what's new:
-Rock Werchter-same as before but better quality footage, no screw ups in last 2 songs anymore) -Complete Rock Werchter audience shot -Interview on offbeat -interview on some german show -Wave of mutilation solo Black Francis and short interview -interview on super. Really interesting what he says about the pixies sound. -pro footage of some festival -performing debaser on club x -interview on rapido, throwing muses interview as well. -performance on night music -performance in France, dubbed french interview as well
Enjoy!

You couldn't have put it better and I couldn't agree more.

The masses will probably never feel what we original fans knew when the Pixies were active or so I tell myself. Each song its own seperate feature-length Fight Club in stereo headphones.
Am I going too far? I say if the only reason for the existence of the internet was to deliver these clips, then any trouble has been justified. Personally, I waited 16 years to see the Tame on CBC Nightmusic version ever since I trusted my brother to vcr record it in like 1990. He instead recorded french soft porn and I thought I could never forgive him. But, I'm over it.. now. Let's move on shall we.
Are we are the lesser Pixies functioning in the shadows decades after their 4 years of production? They were the defining standard and our modern times may only reflect their high-water mark. Vestiges, traces and echoes of surreal landscapes poke through reality and we celebrate them in excess because we now know they're so rare that we can't afford the luxury of ambivalence.
I raise this shoe of whiskey to you all!

Yeah, it's like he explains what the song is about in the interview, then the performance footage features those gaudy women's heads!!

The Dutch bathroom interview is hilarious, spesh when he's taking about Tame and making the stupid noises, hahahaha.. so righteous. It's so nice to see Black animated in an interview, more often than not he comes across as bored.

Hey Matt,
Glad the dvd got to you ok, I was worried it might have got lost in the mail as the British postal service has turned to sh*t, and the woman in the post office was looking at me like a terrorist when I mailed it out (so many questions!).
I have another dvd which has audience footage of both the 'Dream is over' Black Francis solo bootleg and a Hammersmith Odeon show from Oct 1990. Im not able to torrent these (I did try last November without much luck) but I will send them out to you so you can share the love. Awesome site dude.
And now Im gonna sing the Perry Mason theme....
Hey Dan,
Sorry for not emailing you back when I got it. I moved a few weeks ago so things have been in chaos. Plus something is fucked up with the internet provider here so I can only receive emails and can't send. That would be great if you could send those other dvds! We have to work out still what I should send you as well.
Thanks everyone, it's a pleasure knowing so many pixies fans can see this stuff.
Kathryn, it would be great to hang out. Alicia never mentioned that you were coming. Or maybe she did while I was drunk :) |

Posted - 06/11/2006 : 10:47:22 Uh-huh. Never knew some of this footage existed. Does Dave L have an almost identical looking sibling, too?
CheekyDan - I saw Mattb giving you props on his Pixie page, just wanted you to know it's much appreciated here too. If between the two of you you could possibly host the Dream is Over vid sometime in the future, I'm sure Frank would appreciate it ;)

Wow!
Yeah, that clip with Black going into the bathroom is definitely Dutch. Joey mentioned him practicing in front of a mirror in college, in an interview before. The Joey and Charles clip from Super channel...there was an European station with that name, I reckon that's what it is. Anyone recognize Tony Wilson in The Other Side Of Midnight clip?!
I think BF looks like Ricky Gervais in this pic!
Thanks again, Matt. We're spoilt!! There was a time when I thought I'd never get to see stuff like this.

Thanks for the new and improved Werchter vid. And a complete show, wow! BTW, I remember Jeremy fondly from early childhood!
