If you've got some time to kill, why don't you help me out? As I was going to bed last night I was trying to recall which Pixies songs mention U.S. states- I don't know why. Here's what I came up with:

California (Velouria, Vamos)
Massachusetts (UMASS)
Washington (Trompe le Monde)
New York (Monkey Gone to Heaven)
New Jersey (Monkey Gone to Heaven)

When you're much too busy returning to the womb?

"I'm in a state"-No.13 Baby.

The Luck Dragon looks like The Cowardly Lion from The Wizard Of Oz.

Let's try to keep it Luck Dragon-free in here; that thing always creeped me out as a kid.

You mean the Luck Dragon?

That's a bad ass Rush song. One of their 20 minute instrumentals. I think it's the one where that snow dog from The Neverending Story appears.

Or maybe a Galactic Atlas

Olympus Mons, 18.4°N, 133.4°W, Mars

I think there should be an FB World Atlas that includes any place mentioned or inferred, including address and longitude/latitude if it's not a current residence.

I thought of another California reference:

Humboldt County (Massacre)

Alrighty then, who's up to compiling the 'Frank Black Inter-galactical Geographical Reference Database' ??
In chrono-alphabetical order, of course. Every street, business, town, city, state, country, continent, planet, etc...
This may be tougher than you think, since The Man sure gets around....

Here's where we start:

EDIT: Oh well, the map of Caribou disappeared...

Hi booty! He mentions a lot of cities, ie The Happening mentions Vegas (or the strip, anyway), and Old Black Dawning mentions Tucson. Maybe we should start a cities thread too? :)

California Bound: California
End Of Miles: Colorado, California
Velvety: California
San Antonio, TX: Texas
Shrimp Song: Louisiane

There's also Massif Centrale which is not a US state
VoVat Posted - 01/22/2006 : 13:07:24
An obvious one: Texas (San Antonio, TX)
California is also mentioned in "Velvety."
If you want to throw in Canadian provinces, there's always "Manitoba."

Thank you.

I think we may have gotten all the Pixies songs, should we start on Frank Black?

There are a lot of those. I'll start.

California (Los Angeles, California-Bound, probably many more)
Florida (The Swimmer)

This is a good topic. I am having a FB/FB&TC's marathon today, maybe P's tomorrow. Welcome to the board bootydancer!

Very cool and original topic. I can't think of any off the top of my head. This is leading me to go home, spin all 5 PIXIES discs on random (haven't done that in a while), and knock back a few.

New Jersey is also mentioned at the beginning of "Vamos."
