Grant Lee Phillips, formerly of the amazing Grant Lee Buffalo, and currently a great solo artist, is releasing an album of covers; Grant is a big Pixies fan (check out a previous post of mine for info). I assume that the song cover will be 'Wave of Mutilation'. His cover album project sort of reminds me of Frank's original idea for his debut. Anyway I think a cover like this is particularly note worthy considering that GLP is a man of significant reputation and originality himself. Cover versions are always far more interesting when the band/person doing the covering is a music legend also.

More info on the Grant Lee Phillips website.

Here's a Rapidshare link to a live acoustic version that GLP did of Wave of Mutilation.
