I was just listening to my poor quality Breeders Pod demos, and noticed a version of "Silver" on there. I'm wondering which version came first: it or the Doolittle version. Like, did Kim give the demos to Francis and say, "Let me know if you want to do any of these for the next Pixies album." Or maybe after the fact, Kim wasn't entirely happy with the Doolittle version, so she recorded it a second time for possible consideration for the Breeders first cd, which I believe came out a year after Doolittle. The Pod demos are labeled 1990, but that could be a mistake.
Anyone know the story?

maybe it's not officially a demo for that song then.
or, technically, it's a demo for the breeders version of the pixies song.
you can still have a demo for an already "out there" song surely.

Sure, you CAN, but why bother? That's all I'm saying.

But if the "Dolittle" verion came first, why demo a song that's already on a completed studio album?

that is the one pixies song I really really don't like at all. I realy wish it wasn't on Doolittle, it's a smudge on my favourite album of all time

i would think that the doolittle version was first b/c kim didnt start the breeders until after doolittle was recorded and she wanted another outlet for her own music.

Yeah, I would have thought that the Doolittle one came first!

i believe that doolittle came first.
maybe kim just liked the song and re-did it.
