Posted - 07/15/2005 : 17:44:58 I'm pretty anxious about a new record. Will they adopt a new style or stick to their roots? Will it sound as fresh and dynamic as their others albums?... |

Reformed alt-rock legends PIXIES are planning to record their first album in 14 years.
The band’s frontman Black Francis has confirmed the band, who got back together last year to huge acclaim, are preparing to make their first studio album since 1991’s ’Trompe Le Monde’.
He told The Sun: “It's all hugs and kisses, I'm pleased to report.
"We have been discussing recording a new album lately. As happy as we are with the success of the reunion tour, we really want to make a record for the right reasons, whether it is successful commercially or not."
He added: "We would be satisfied if it played like our other records, never chart-topping but always in print."
Since the band got back together they have recorded two songs - ’Bam Thwok’ - which was rejected for the ’Shrek 2’ soundtrack and then released as a download-only single, and a cover of Warren Zevon’s ’Ain’t That Pretty At All’, which appeared on ’Enjoy Every Sandwich’, a tribute album to the late singer.
Pixies headline this year’s Carling Weekend: Reading and Leeds Festivals between August 27 and 29.
Black Francis releases a new solo album under the name Frank Black next week (July 18). ’Honeycomb’ is the first record he’s done alone since 1996’s ’The Cult Of Ray’.

Posted - 07/03/2005 : 16:04:40 Someone should stamp on Black's foot while he records his vocals for this hypothethical new album, to bring out that old aggression!! |

Posted - 07/01/2005 : 07:33:29 I think we will just have to make a distinction between Pixies of today and yesteryear. I don't think FB has the Pixies agression in him, to write a Surfer Rosa or Trompe. But will it me as good? I think he's advanced musically, beyond the Pixies formula, but judging by Title TK Kimmy hasn't. I think that forumla of FB and KD would actually be a sucess. I'm not expecting anything like previous stuff, if a new album comes out. But who expected Bossanova when they first heard Surfer Rosa? But I think the former is the superior album.
I just think FB has the ability to write a classic Pixies album. If they're all up for it, then I think they should try. People get too hung up about 'not wrecking their perfect album record'. If that's what they want to to, then i think they should. They all deserve a hell of a lot of money for the great music theyve made. Finally the world has caught up, so yeah reap the hell out of it. And make an album so I can hear that beautiful sound of FB'S vocals backed by KD

Posted - 06/30/2005 : 12:57:45 I don't know what the new Pixies CD will be called.
"We're only in it for the money" is a Frank Zappa/Mothers of Invention title. Came out in 1968 during the flower power movement. Made fun of hippies! Classic, highly recommended.
If Bam Thwok is any indication of what the new Pixies will sound like, then they should call it "We're Only In It For Kim Deal".
Bam Thwok = Breeders with better guitars.
How come we say Los Angeleez?

Posted - 06/30/2005 : 11:52:58 "were only in it for the money"? that reminds me of the time they played with "red hot chili peppers".. (i wasnt there) a friend of mine told me they had to restart songs like 4 times because they messed up and then frank black simply said "it doesnt matter, we're only in it for the money anyway" ... or something like that. well, i told my friend i dont belive him but if thats what the albums going to be called..hhmm...making me a bit suspicious. plz tell me that im wrong |
