Posted - 05/02/2005 : 01:27:08 Crazy riffs, crazy vocals, crazy subject topics, ie minimise the standard love song them,,um prety much like their old stuff i guess, but let Kim have a greater impact, more duel vocals (like I Bleed) or her own songs. Must not try to overproduce it to suit commercial radio - but dont underproduce it like some of Franks live to tape albums. |

Posted - 05/01/2005 : 15:29:25 You know, an album of waltzes doesn't sound like a bad idea.

Posted - 05/01/2005 : 14:33:47 quote: Reformed rockers THE PIXIES are fiercely opposed to making music to please their loyal following - and are considering recording an album fans are bound to hate.
The DEBASER stars are intent on writing a host of new tunes, even though their fans would prefer them just to tour and not tarnish their acclaimed back catalogue.
Singer FRANK BLACK quips, "(Guitarist) KIM (DEAL)'s perspective is like, 'The fans wouldn't want us to mess around with the old repertoire by adding to it - so let's do that. F**k them!'
"She's dying to make an album of waltzes just to p**s everyone off. There's at least a little bit of rebel left in us, and Kim has most of it."
Come on kimmy, try and piss us off Bring on the waltz |

Posted - 05/01/2005 : 14:12:49 Honestly, I am with everyone else.
I just hope they want to play what they want to play.
If they have another album, its going to be like the others: You're going to listen to it and like it right away but be in awe becaue you have no clue how they were able to put such an original sound together.
I do hope they do write to where they are now vs were they were then. Hopefully there would be some loud and fast rock and roll tunes as well as songs where Kim sings lead.
But on another hand , it would be cool to have this be a double disc with some of the stuff they haven't released plus some new stuff too :) |

Posted - 05/01/2005 : 11:32:34 Up for a surf album, less than 40 minutes and Franck Black writing almost all the stuff, the same for the singing... An instrumental would be good!
But I really don't think they'll come up with a new record anytime soon... I don't think there will be a new album. |

Posted - 05/01/2005 : 11:10:27 I'd like them to be joined in the studio with EDF.
I'd also like to see some Pixies takes on Frank's new direction. Some Nashville, Honeycomb type songs, but with the influence of Joey, Kim, and Dave.
Some brains just work that way, that's what chemicals can do. |

Posted - 05/01/2005 : 11:07:20 I'd like an double CD, one CD with new ideas (2005) but in the same line like Bossanova and the second CD with the songs that they did'n include on Trompe le Monde |

Posted - 05/01/2005 : 07:55:28 i think surfer rosa is a one in a kind..if they were to continue in that direction i think ideas would rn short and the songs may become repetative...and the pixies are the most interesting band and best i know and id hate for them to become repetative... but thats only a speculation.
i myself would like to be surprised..every album has had a diferent mood and feeling to it, i would like a enw feeling alltogether...bossanova has a slightly surialistic feel (to me anyway), doolittle is slightly more main stream, surfer rose/ come on pilgrim are wierd, fresh and beautifull. tromple le monde is wierd, happy, sad, ... in fact, i dont tihnk i can describe tromple le monde but i love it anyway...
so yeah, i havent realy answered your questoin very well but i tried |

Posted - 04/27/2005 : 00:56:04 It should be at least as heavy as Bossanova. So no mellowing out allowed. It should contain 13 to 15 songs, and last LESS THAN 40 MINUTES. That's my most urgent wish in fact. Obviously, there's a strict prohibition of crap like bonus tracks, limited editions with a lousy bonus disc, or multi-media enhanced cd-rom bullshit. Bam Thwok should be on it, but not as an opener, and maybe in a re-recorded version. On the other hand, ATPAA should not be on the album. Although I would allow one cover song on the new album, as well as one instrumental. Only two or three songs may have Kim's lead vocals. The other ones should be written and sung by BF, with backing vocals from Kim. Synths may be used, but not as heavy as on Trompe. Not really having an opinion on the producer. I wouldn't mind if they throw in Albini or Norton again. They may even do it live to 2-track if they want. And finally, I'm looking for a release date 'round spring 2006. Or sooner ;) |

A combination of all. Little ditties that are over in a matter of minutes, then the longer verse chorus verse thingys, surf is always good, and the waltzes? Would love to hear what the Pixies would do to this style of music. A disc of these alone for curiosity's sake would be welcomed with open arms. Can you even to begin to imagine a Pixie waltz? Nope, neither can I. Or i'd write it and sell it on ebay. All I know is, why limit themselves to just one genre, give me the works?
What about you?
